Louisville, Villanova, and UConn in the Final Four. And Villanova got there by beating another Big East powerhouse, the Pitt Panters! The Big East is once again the BEST conference in NCAA basketball, for men that is.

Of course, I am predicting that Louisville will win today. I should not count out Michigan State, but I think the Cardinals will fly high and go on to the Final Four.

Agree, Big East, then the Big 12... but the game is no longer the game of execution and precision of the past. Looks to me like they are emulating the NBA and refs are making lots of very strange calls and non-calls (I don't have a team in the hunt, so this is observation.) This year is closer to football with a round ball than basketball.

Bobby Knight also made an observation during the regular season that he thought there was too much contact allowed in basketball and that he felt the NCAA needed to crack down on it.

Michigan State is better than I thought. I had picked Louisville to go all the way, after they won the Big East in the regular season and then won the Big East Tournament as well.

After this year UCONN is NO MORE.

Tainted? How? Because of alleged recruiting violations of a player that is not even on the team?

It would be a different story if that player was averaging 20 and 10 and was their go to guy. But, he's not even on the team. If you're referring to AJ Price and the laptop scandal, that was almost three years ago, he was punished and paid for his crime. As for UCONN being no more, let's see. Kansas put on probation after they won a National Championship with Danny Manning. How did that destroy the program? UCLA put on probation after 1980 and 1996. How did that affect them? UCONN being no more is a little steep, no?

Good points. Maybe 'no more' is too sharp, how 'bout - 'will have trouble bouncing back to their current and recent glory'... ...I'm just saying that Calhoun may not be coaching too much longer, and having the NCAA pissed at your program is not a huge incentive for the up & coming talent to choose UCONN over the other big schools. And, yes - Kansas was back in the final four in 1991, 1993, 2002, 2003, 2008. Then again, Kansas is the fourth best program of all-time, and the second best of the 'modern era'. So a little probation isn't going to hurt the Hawks...

What makes you think the NCAA will punish UConn enough to hurt them? Chances are they will get away with a slap on the wrist (maybe a scholarship taken away for a year or two), and that's it.

Just look at what the NCAA has done in the past. Michigan got essentially nothing (had to erase all wins, lost a scholarship for four years and couldn't play in the postseason for four years) for having a booster pay five of their players over $100,000 each. USC has gotten nothing yet for the Reggie Bush scandal (and chances are when they do punish USC it will hardly affect them). The NCAA is a joke, if it didn't punish those two schools enough, there is no way it gives UConn anything substantial.
