I was wondering if anyone had any feedback on this club. I hit my 3 -wood pretty well for a new player but want to upgrade to better technology.

I know this club ( http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/pr...ductId=2540157 ) is a 2007 model, but I like the look of it better than the square Sumo fairways.

I haven't had a chance to swing it yet and I think the golf shops by me are only carrying the Sumo's now so I thought I'd see if anyone had any reviews on it.

Hey Alley Cat,
I only have experience with the Sumo Square 3 wood with the stock shaft and just like the Sumo Square driver, it goes straight. I think for 3 woods, the shape of the head doesn't really matter as much as the driver, only because the head of a driver is so much bigger. Nike probably came out with a square 3 w for those that thought it would compliment my square driver and sumo square hybrids, which I certainly bought into.
Give it a whirl, and try it, I believe Nike makes good stuff. The only reason why my bag is all Titleist is because I got fit by one of the Titleist golf pro's where I work.

Hey Alley Cat,

Thanks a lot... I'll go up to Dick's sometime this weekend and see what I can demo. It's hard to find info on the SQ2 so I'll take any input I can get

I own it, and it has that awesome "SMACK" sound when you nail the ball. It hits it long and straight.

Yup, I've only had Nike 3W until my Titleist one, but every Nike 3W I've had, especially my favorite T60 one, had a beautiful SMACK sound off the face.

Gaming the clubs in my sig line....the 3wood definitely is the best sounding between my woods.

I've grown to really love the hybrid sound, though....when you've hit it solid, you know right away....just like a well struck iron.

I've got the 17* model, as I'm a high handicapper. The shape was odd at first, but I'm getting used to it. I hit it pretty straight off the tee, but still need some work hitting it pure off the deck. I like the sound of the club when I hit it pure.

EDIT: Oh, you are talking about the regular Sumo. Mine is the square-headed version, just to clarify.

2011 Goals:
* Improve club-head speed to 90 mph with the driver
* Ensure increased speed does not compromise accuracy
* Prevent overextending on the back-swing (left-arm is bending too much at the top)
* Relax arms initially at address ( too tense)* Play more full rounds (failed from 2010)

If your also in the market for a new driver. A lot of the companies are offering a free fairway wood or hybrid if you buy a driver. A hybrid will be much easier to hit and get up in the air.

Well, they are nice clubs, but 160 at dicks is pretty high. Check around online at golf retailers, I can't find the deal anymore but there were those fairways for sale for 80 dollars. You should be able to get way cheaper than 160. It pays to just look around a little. Sorry I couldn't find the deal.

p.s. your handicap is just 20, not +20.

Yeah, I did find it somewhere else for cheaper (I don't remember where at the moment either) but I still gotta try swinging it somewhere first. Also, I wish my handicap was only 20 but since I'm a new player and I've only played 2 rounds of golf my handicap is well PLUS 20 haha actually about 47 right now... so +20 is technically not a lie. LOL To wrx_junki : I actually bought a Cleveland HiBore XLS Monster and got a free 4i Launcher Hybrid with it. Thanks to everyone else for the feedback. It'll be at least a couple of weeks before I shell out the dough for a new club of any kind (gotta pay off the driver 1st) but this one really caught my eye.

I recently got that club in an 18 deg loft. I was looking for something that I could hit in the 215-230 range. I have only hit it on the range yet, but of the MANY clubs I hit, I liked it the best.

    • Day 133 (25 Apr 24) - Worked with the Divot Board today added a piece of cardboad behind the ball to help reinforce ball first contact. Contact improved through the round.   Added grandson's football goal posts about 10yds out to add a good start line visual Good session today.
    • Day 120: 4/25/24 Full Speed Spectrum training session. Low energy today and my speed was lower than normal. Will see what I can do on Saturday.
    • Day 541, April 25, 2024 Ten minutes after lessons. Still not caught up, but should be by tomorrow evening.
    • Playing irons only may lead to some short-term gains, but you'll want to at least practice with the driver if you ultimately have some decently good goals.
    • He plays from 68.3 / 124.  A combo tee setup of normal mens and seniors.   I play from 69.7/127.   He left after taking a triple on 14 and then leaving.  Which plays to what I think his plan is,   He doesn’t stroke on 14 but would have to take bogey for non completed holes on the way in.   Maybe that’s giving him too much credit, but he found a way to add 4 shots to his score over three holes so….     I looked up his last 20 rounds in GHIN and he has a lot of rounds at easier courses (rating and slope) that are higher than his normal rounds at home.   Since I mostly have his front nine score during the match (36) to go on, he has three nine hole scores at our course posted that are 41-43. I wrote the whole thing up to the head of our golf association who runs all the tournaments.  Our pro is not involved officially in the tournaments because the golf associations are separate from the club.   He’s pretty well known for this, however I was pretty shocked at how well he played carrying a 15.   I think eventually they will do something, a lot of people have complained.  The golf association threw someone out a couple of years ago and it was a three month situation where the guy retaliated.  They probably are hesitant to go thru anything like that again.  That is a rather crazy story I might post about later.
