Im heading out to Phoenix and will have the opportunity to play 2 days.

Being a lefty, I would like to get over to Phil's place and play GrayHawk. Which two courses should I defintely play? Im not too worried about the cost, since this is my first time out there and I think they should have some good summer rates...

The Boulders ... it's an amazing course, with incredible views. Whoever placed those bunkers, though, man, what an evil evil person...

Just got back this Spring from Scottsdale. I would reco in order:

1. Gold Canyon - Dinosaur Course. Spectacular views through the foothills.
2. Greyhawk - Raptor. Flat course. Huge bunkers, huge greens. Great condition.
3. Troon North - Monument. Spectacular views, but crowded by homes on both sides of fairway which makes it uncomfortable to play.
4. Phoenician - Very scenic.
5. Sun ridge canyon.

What's in my bag:

Driver: Tour Burner 9.5
Fairway: Comp 15* Aldila NVS
Hybrids: 19* & 22*Irons: CG2 4-PWWedges: CG12 52*, 56*Putter: Studio Design Newport 1.5Ball: One BlackBag: GPS: SG3

Just called and I guess they're getting the greens ready for summer with some tye of overseeding on Raptor. Should I play Talon, is it a good course too?

This is the time of year for aerification of the greens. You should definitely call any course you are planning to play to check the schedule.

The Talon course is not a must play IMHO. Must play on a visit to Phoenix is We-Ko-Pa Saguaro. Their website shows they won't aerify until July 7 (but I would call anyway). Some other recommendations: Vista Verde Talking Stick North Sunridge Canyon Raven @ Verrado (NOT Raven @ S. Mountain) Troon North Enjoy!

Thanks! I will change my Talon tee time to We-Ko-Pa Saguaro!

Played it yesterday, loved the course! The greens were not in very good shape, but still great experience...

Wanted to give you an update on the courses I played in the Phoenix area...

Played We-Ko-Pa and really liked it. Great Layout!

Also played Octillio in Chandler because it was close to where I was working and the only way to get in 18 at 4pm. Not a bad course, but didnt really knock my socks off.

Troon North was awesome! I played both courses; Monument and Pinnacle.
I have a hard time picking out which one is better. I played the GOLD tees on both courses which played around 6750yds. Shot 80 on Pinnacle and 73 on Monument! They have a deal for 36 holes and a NEW free Odyssey White Hot XG7 putter for $150.00!

Finally, I never played Gray Hawk and here's why: I called and asked if I could get out between 3:30-4pm and was told I could, but at 7pm someone would come out and make everyone come in and close the course. Needless to say, I said thanks, but NO thanks!
