I just got a new driver with its head being 525 cc square driver. I just started playing golf about a week ago and since i got this driver i can hit about 300 yards with a bounce n roll and ofcourse a minor slice. Do you think that it is smart to use this driver until i have been playing for a while and then switching to a 460cc or just not use this club cause it can hurt my development? Also I love the square design

525cc??? That would be like swinging a stick with a shoebox on the end of it.

I would say to get a 460cc and work at it. I mean, 460cc is more than plenty of room to hit a golf ball. You shouldn't have any problem hitting with any driver out there. If you go to Dick's, you can find some really good drivers for under $150.00. That's just my $0.02

If you like it, use it. You aren't competing or anything so have fun. My friend uses an illegal wedge because he an spin the hell out of a ball with it. Granted it ruins balls as well, but he has fun with it when messing around.

Personally, I have a 460cc but wish I had something smaller. All the extra head space doesn't help me so much and really probably slows my swing slightly. But whatever, it works.

I can't imagine a head that big. It must look ridiculous.

it really doesnt look strange at all because of the square design, it helps me because i have a problem with hitiing the ball to low(for some reason) so no matter what as long as i dont hit the ground the ball will hit the sweet spot

Seems like you would lose speed with a head that large, you should try a smaller head im sure you will be able to swing it even faster. If you have trouble hitting low than try a 11 or 13 degree driver

I like my Sumo2 square driver. Eventhough it looks like a waffle maker on a stick, it launches the ball high and long for me. I probably won't buy another driver for a while, its cool to be square(at least for me).

I'd keep using your ginormous driver until your game develops further. After it improves, I'd look around for a decent driver; nothing wrong with decent used clubs or models from a few years back.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
