I have Cleveland CG golds now and I'm a 6 month golfer. These are just too hard to hit. Few guys in my league tried hitting them and agreed.

Looking for a SGI set. 500-600 range. I was thinking the Ping G-10 but not sure it's a SGI set. Any advice on sets would be great. I can say I'm not crazy about hybryds either

I have strugled with the CG golds for too long. Heck, I can hit my brother in laws ping g2 really good compared to mine.

I just don't think I am ready for just a GI set yet?

Yea, those cobras look tempting. Heading out today to demo some. Man, I wish the guy at golfsmith would of set me up right the first time. Bad thing is I bought em in the winter so really never played them so the 90/90 went out the window.

Not this time however :)

Cobra SZ look good as well??

The G10's are nice but I picked the I10's because i want to improve. I feel if you get too much "help" from the SGI clubs you may ingrain some flaws in your swing. Too be honest I didn't feel the I10's were any harder to hit the the G10 I just didn't care for the look of the G10 head. Since the new I15 and G15 line is coming out the 10 series are a preety good buy right now. Good luck.

I agree.

I've been extremely happy with these sticks. There doesn't appear to much difference with these and the G10's. Outstanding bargain....especially when you consider that you can be custom fitted for that same price.

I bought the S9 for my cousin a couple of years back and he loves them. They really are great irons and can be had in your price range pretty easily. You'll probably dip into the $375 - 425 range if you trade in your current set too. Just make sure you try some more irons before settling on the S9, if that's your choice. You don't want to run into this situation again

My buddy who worked his way from a low 20s handicapper to a low single digit handicapper over the past 3 years swears by the Ping G and I series. I've never played them, but they're probably worth looking at too.

    • after some years experimenting around, I've settled on a mixed bag of mostly Pat Simmons vintage Tiger Sharks (the ones with the blue enamal on back of the clubheads): 3 thru 9 iron, + 3 wedges (PW, sand, chipper). Those super heavy clubheads really help me get my swing down and thru the ball. Also I carry an old Taylor 18-degree rescue club, 17-degree and 14 degree ImagineGolf metalwoods, and the famous Pat Simmons "alien" 1-iron. Finally a real brick-on-a-stick, the big-headed Bettinardi Ben Hogan model putter which is excellent for taking the break out of short putts and getting the ball hole high on long ones. Wait....is that 15 clubs? Oh well....
    • this topic brought to mind one my favorite golf-spectator memories. Back when, living in Santa Barbara CA, parked in my yellow cab just behind the 10th tee  (c. 380 yard par 4) at SB Muni golf course while eating lunch. A twosome comes by, and first up is this fat little mexican guy who takes a kinda squirelly practice swing, then addresses the ball and bashes a long, high, perfectly straight drive up to w/in about 5 yards of the green. Other guy is dressed to the 9's, pulls out what looks like a $300 driver....and hits a maybe 150-yard pop fly. Slams clubhead to the ground and yells, "it's fat! It's fat! Everything is fat today!!"  And that's how I learned what a "fat" shot is.
    • day 57. Technique practice in the net. Really trying to slow down.
    • It may not be surprising that in the previous 7,064 posts, this particular point has been discussed. To which I will counter: If we're talking about results, why only the majors? Unless you know something that I don't, neither of us are in any position to judge whether Woods or Nicklaus lived their overall life better, not that such a thing is even objectively measurable, nor is it relevant to the discussion.
    • As we've had to tell other people, the topic is which is the better GOLFER, not human being.
