How to choose driver shaft?

Hey guys,

I would like to put a new shaft on my driver. How/where do I go about figuring out with aftermarket shaft is best for me?

I did some research last night on the web, and Aldila's site suggested the VooDoo RVS6 based on their quick fit guide. But if I am going to spend the $$ on a new shaft, I would like to maximize the positive results.

Currently my Taylormade R7 has a stock 45g shaft. And it is too whippy for me. I want to go to at least a 65g shaft.

Any help/suggestions ar welcome!

If you have a retail store (or club fitter) with the Taylor Made fitting system onsite you can probably go there and try the same head you are playing with some different shafts to see how they react (hopefully on a launch monster). They would probably charge you some nominal fee for this, but at least that would help you ensure you're getting the right shaft for you. The TM fitting carts are not as common as some of the other manufacturer systems, though. Call your local Golfsmith/Golf Galaxy or whatever other retailers you have in your area. Buying a new shaft without getting a chance to try it with the clubhead you plan to use it with can be a real gamble.

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water
