yesterday I played with my new toy - the IntelliGolf for PocketPC (I've the HP Ipaq 6515w phone) - finally version 8.0 supports the new "square" screens used on the latest phones/PDA's

Anyway - it really doesn't take much to enter the information. Entry screen is divided into drive, fairway1, fairway2, approach, chip, 1st putt, 2nd putt entry forms. you select club used (from a drop-down or click on bag/select) and enter estimated distance you hit it (This version also have GPS support for shot tracking, but I haven't play with it yet). the "result" options are arrows representing left, right, short, long, green.
Putt entry screen works the same, but you can also specify break direction of each putt (hm... 3rd and 4th putt are not available? Must be a bug ).

It takes only couple seconds to enter it, I was riding a cart by myself and playing with my wife and her friend, so I always had plenty of time between my tee-shot and theirs (due to driving up to the front tees), and I used this time to complete entry from the prior hole. I didn't find it to be a burden at all.
The only complaint I might have - these entry screens don't allow to indicate a "trouble" shot. I might have 130 yds to the green, yet I'll punch a 5i due to tree branches in the way and it will fall short. If I enter it that way - my 5i average distance will be quite low You have to "adjust" for that, by simply omitting "trouble" shots from the stats. Of course you won't have any "recovery" stats available as well. Only indicator you can "turn on" is for "Bunker Shot".

Other than that - once you collect enough rounds - you'd be surprised how much information you will gain to manage your game better - not only on the course - but you'll manage your practice better too, seeing black on white what's wrong... I like it.

I've got this on my PocketPC as well - and have been generally impressed with it also.

I will agree with the trouble shots thing and club distances. Would be nice to have an option to pick a club - click on "bump and run" box or something like that.

One word of warning - I once synced my PocketPC with my computer while Intelligolf on the PPC was still running - and something wonky went wrong - and it mixed up a couple rounds and deleted another and deleted a course - no idea what hapened there.

I keep all my scorecareds - so I can fix things up and re-enter . . . but who knows what will hapen - may start fresh.

The version I'm using is a late 7 version (like 7.7 or something.)

I'm looking forward to trying out Erik's software when it's released for PC - as I find I'm not really using the PPC on the course, but I'[ll use it afterwards and go with info I entered on my scorecard.

We have a guy working on it now. Don't ask - it's been a headache.

Intelligolf is great, I've used it for a few years now on my Treo (Palm OS). As a high-handicapper it is great to see where I'm putting my drives to help ID tendencies, keep track of my putts, scoring over time, and shots lost due to penalties.

Do I really need the software? Not really, but it is a great tool for analytical types. Like any tool, you have to use it to experience the benefits.

Edit: Obviously, a great feature is the ability to download almost any course in the country and have a digital scorecard. The $$$$ games tracking is also nice but my buddies and I still keep that manually as well.

    • I get kidney stones. So 100 oz of water every day. Some nights I drink 32oz between midnight and 6 Am. Which means I dont sleep much.
    • 46 (9 over) Short game and putts were awful!
    • 46+40 for an 86. I just need to play 9 holes on the range before each round. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
