Kenny Perry turns 50 next season and has said that he will play both tours (PGA & Champions Tour). He has said he would like to get to 20 wins (he needs 6 more) & win a major before he hangs it up on the PGA Tour.

Will he win a Major?

Will he reach his goal of 20 wins?

Kenny was playing some of his best golf here in the past two years or so, I think he will reach 20. and I hope he gets his major.

High goals, six win is tough on the PGA tour, he might get one or two wins at the most this comming year, the Major is very difficult, even though he was very close this year at the Master's.

He still hits a long ways and if he can continue to putt well, we will have to wait and see.

He should dominate the senior tour and win at least five tournaments along with a Major is my prediction in 2010.

He is playing great, and reminds me of Hale Irwin, Raymond Floyd, Fred Funk, and others when they turned 50. However, I think 20 wins on the regular tour is out of reach. He might get to 16 or 17. There is a good chance he may contend in a Major again, and if he does, people will be rooting like crazy for him, including me. It will be almost as exciting as last year's Open Championship when Tom Watson turned back the hands of time.

I don't think he will, but I hope he does. I think he blew his load the last 2 years (whoops! sorry about the TW reference.)

With Tiger out now (for at least a little while), maybe he can grab a few more than he would have. I think he can get to 20 pga tour wins, but as we saw at the Masters...he doesn't have the mental game to win a major. It depends on his schedule and if he keeps entering tourneys with weak fields like he has been doing, then he should rack up 6 wins.

First off, I'm a fan of KP and always will be but I just don't see it happening. It took him until age 49 to win 14 and he's going to get 6 more in the twilight of his career? I think his chances are better to get that major than winning six more times with the young bucks. IMO he might get two more wins on tour and that's it. Let him take his game to the Champions Tour where he'll dominate(?) for a time.

Don't forget, he's playing the best golf of his life in the twilight of his carrer. 10 of those 14 wins have been in the last 6 years. He had 3 wins in '08 and 2 in '09. Barring injury, I see him easily getting 2 more a year for 3 years. I really hope he gets a major, but you never know on those things. In the world of good players without a major, I think he's right there with Westwood.

He's dreaming. Statistic may lead him to think that way but Kenny lost his confidence on last round of 09 Masters. It sounds too harsh for the old guy but well.. this is my opinion. Let's look at Y.E. Yang. His Driver distance, FIR, GIR, or other statistic doesn't tell what he has done for 09 year. It's all about confidence. After he took Tiger away at PGA Championship, he is doing well on most of tournaments after. It's all about Confidence.

At the last round of 09 Master, he had his skill but didn't execute it. Angel Cabrera wasn't his best condition but he had his confidence (easily anyone could tell by just looking at how he play) since he had done and was a major champion.

    • I have an update… I don't have much of a response, because the fact that they would ADD the numbers for the lead and trail shoulder together… I mean, wow. I was giving them too much credit. Nobody would think to assume they were doing THAT. That's beyond comical. One of the biomechanists I talked to put it this way: "So if I squatted down and went from 180 to 90 deg knee angle, then I would say 180 deg range of motion because I have two knees?" I'd type more (maybe), but honestly, I'm laughing a bit too hard. 🤣 Update: Mini Manavian blocked me on Instagram, so I cannot see his post showing Bryson with about 50° of range of motion (with a driver) from P4 to P7, and 75° only if you go out to the mid-follow-through. What a terrible loss for me. 😉
    • Thanks, interesting to read. The swing is definitely very timing dependent. I hit it consistently I guess but consistently bad.
    • I've shot 91-74 on the same day before. Couple of years ago played a two round tournament on Bethpage Black. I shot 72 in the first round and 90 in the second. First round I played very well. Second round I played okay, but had about 5 shots that hit the lips of bunkers and bounced down into them. A couple of those wound up in footprints - I was unamused - and I failed to get them out. Anyway - lots of bunkers and my bunker play isn't great and then add a couple of footprints and me getting pretty tired and it added up to a lot.  Only you can really tell though what's causing the variance. It might be that your swing is very timing dependent and when it's timed well you play well and when it's not then it goes all over the place. In that case, some lessons and working on your swing could be the key. If it's more that you tend to feel like you hit it fairly consistently, but you have days where the shots come off and days where they don't, then that's more likely a course management issue. If that's what you need to work on, then you could read Lowest Score Wins and build a plan of attack based on that.  Rest assured though that a pretty big range from high to low is fairly common. Even PGA Tour players often have 18-20 shot spreads from best to worst rounds in a season. It's a common affliction among golfers.
