G'day all....
Here's the thing, I've always hit my irons a little higher than most people. I'm currently using Taylormade RAC OS irons. I was thinking of going with the LTs to try and lower my ball flight. Will this actually help or what can I do?

thanks,
diggs

G'day all....

DiggsPEI,

A high ball flight is a good thing, most people don't hit their irons high enough, especially in the lower numbers. Are you ballooning the ball? You may not need to change the heads, but a simple shaft change away from the uniflex "T steps" or whatever they're using may help.

well, it feels like i'm skying my irons. off the tee i avg about 270+yards with a good ball flight, the same with my 3wood(250yards). But when I seem to take pw, or 9, 8 iron, it seem that the ball is too high, avg around 145-150yards with an 8iron. i figure i shoudl be hitting my pw about 120, 9iron about 140. i've also tried moving the ball around in my stance. i'm not sure if this is very clear....not very good at explaining thing.

DiggsPEI,

Unfortunately you're dealing with one of the paradoxes of golf. When you get enough height with the long clubs, you inevitably have too much with the short clubs. High lofted clubs are meant to go high, loft will always be the number one factor in how high you hit the ball. A flighted set like flighted rifles, if they fit you, or tour concept will help lower trajectory in the short irons while raising long iron trajetory. Before changing clubs or shafts, I'd work on hitting a knockdown shot. I improved my short iron accuracy tremendously by taking more club and swinging it 3/4. Like my instructor always says, you can always lower your trajectory, but it's very difficult to raise it.
