Cleveland Launcher 2009 Fairway 4/5 wood

Any comments on this fairway wood. I have slower swing speed and would like help deciding what type of shaft to get. My plan is go put this in my bag because of difficulty I have hitting 3 wood off the deck.

I have a 3wd. Very nice club off the tee, good solid feel and pretty forgiving. I made a mistake and got the Yellow fit on shaft in Stiff, I hit it too high and could use the Red shaft. I recently had my first visit to an actual simulator and have a SS around 117mph. I think the yellow shaft will work fine if you're under 100mph swing speed.

The club is OK off the deck, but not the easiest I've hit due to the size (it's pretty large). I find the G10 easier off the deck, the Cleveland seems a bit more easy to hit off the tee due to it's larger size though.

I got the 17 degree 3 (?) wood with the regular flex gold shaft. It must be a 4 wood with that loft. I love it. It's easy to hit off of the deck and it's as longer than my Callaway 15 degree FT 3 wood with the Fit On 160 shaft. The shaft in the Cleveland is nice and firm, the Callaway was much too whippy.

A couple of years ago, Golf Digest had a short piece on fairway woods. It mentioned that for many golfers, a 4-wood was easier to hit than a 3-wood. Sounds like you're one of those golfers.

Keep choosing clubs which work for you.

I read in the new Golf Digest that golfers with a swing speed over 85MPH on avg will see a 8 yd. gain in both distance and trajectory from a 4-wood versus a 3-wood because of the shorter shaft and the shorter shaft allows people to make more solid contact. They also said that golfers with a swing speed under 85 MPH will also see a gain in distance but I forget the exact amount. I thought that was pretty interesting reading that.

are you really set on a cleveland launcher 17* 3wood. There are a couple of 4W's I've tried and IMHO are really great clubs- the Ping G10 17* 4W and the one in my sig the macgregor mt fairway 4W 16.5 which IMHO is an under rated club. The company line "expect driver like distance" is really an apt description for it. Plus the fact that its npw on sale $69-$79. You may also want to try the Mizuno F50 or F60 4W.

I will check out the Macgregor. I am not so sure about the Launcher because I read it has a larger head. The Ping would make sense because i plan on getting fitted after some lessons and the the pro at my course is certified PIng fitter.

I'm a fan of the Launcher 5-wood. I currently use the 2009 Launcher driver and I have been satisfied. I recently tested the 5-wood and have been impressed. I really like the Fujikama shafts that the Lauchers have. It fits me. A great feeling on impact. Highly recommend!
