Jack will write a full article in two Mondays (not on Labor Day) to cover this... but for now, have a peek at TM's forthcoming new r7 and r7 TP irons.

Revised LTs? Kinda.

wow, they resemble the MX-23's... i can't wait for the review on them, as i am up in the air between the Rac TP's or possibly these R7 TP's. Although it seems that the Rac TP (not the MB's) are a bit more of a workable club, Am i right in thinking this?

They kinda replace the RAC LTs, really. I played with them today. The RAC TP is going to be more workable, yes. I had a hard time adjusting to these clubs today. I hit what I thought were terrible shots that turned out well (good forgiveness) yet I had a hard time controlling my draws and cuts. I never adjusted to the offset nor the thick toplines. It'll take me a few more rounds before that comes about.

I'm really, REALLY , happy I got the Lt's before they moved to this shazam graphics scheme. I think they look like stunt doubles for some car in, "The Fast and the Furious"

Beautiful. I don't think I've ever seen less offset in an iron.

Then you haven't been fortunate enough to have a set of Miura Cb-201 and Miura Cb-301 in your hands

They look a lot like the R7 Forged when seen from the players position. Especially the Miura Cb-301 looks awesome too. But I agree - the R7 Forged is an iron, which I think Taylor Made should release and sell in the US and Europe.

I played about 12 or 13 holes with the regular r7 (non-TP) irons yesterday, and I was very impressed. It's tough to give a firm opinion because it could have been the first-time luck thing. However, I hit them very well.

Just a few quick notes:

-I hit the long irons better than I've hit any long irons in the past few years. I teed off with a 3-iron twice and stuck it right in the middle of the fairway, leaving me an easy second shot in the process. I also hit a couple 4-irons out of the fairway, and the results were very good.

-I was long a couple times but dead-on with the line. I was clearly hitting them a club longer than I do my Titleist 804.OS irons. I usually hit my 9-iron about 135-140 yards and my 8-iron about 145 yards or so. I hit each of these 10 yards farther with the r7's.

I'm impressed so far with the distance and accuracy of the r7 irons. I'll have to hit them a lot more to get a good feel for them though. I'm playing at a nice course this weekend at a family reunion, so I'll leave more impressions as I go.

Huh? These clubs have been out for a year or so.

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
