A friend and I are making the trip out to Long Island for the Belmont on June 5th and want to combine it with a round at the Black that morning. Since we want to get to the Belmont sometime early in the afternoon, we would like to get one of the first slots in the morning. Anybody have a good guess as to what time we should get there Friday? I did a search and found most people say 5pm or so, but wasn't sure if it would be extra crowded because of the Belmont.

The other option is heading over to Bethpage after the Belmont (so we would probably get there around 8 or 9pm). What are the chances we would be able to get out in time to get a full 18 in on Sunday showing up at that time?

Thanks!

My guess would be go the day before the Belmont and play in the morning. If you are looking for specific times, I know Golf Digest wrote a pretty extensive article about Bethpage Black last spring before the US Open. A quick search should find you an answer.

On a weekend? I would say its unlikley unless you start working the phones right now. But i say there is a reasonable chance you'll get on one of the courses. or take jamos suggestion and play the afternoon before. Weekday afternoons its actually not that difficult to get on the black course.

Just go the day before in the morning and walk up and take the first available twosome. There should be spots open.

We played a few weeks ago two days in a row and we never had to camp out. Just walk up in the morning and take whatever afternoon tee time is available. There won't be a ton of choices but there should at least be a few.

Yeah, it's usually easier to get a 2some walk up than a 4. There are usually a handful of slots open. If you can't get on Black, try Red as a 2nd choice.
Otherwise, call with at least 2 phones and speed dial.
