I just bought a set of TaylorMade R9 irons with the KBS shaft and had to decide wether I want the KBS Tour or KBS Tour 90, both in stiff. The swingspeed with an 6 iron is about 85mph and 6.4 ft tall.

The guy in the store said that I should take a lighter shaft, but there was no launch monitor used. During a Mizuno fitting for my new woods I also tried some irons and the fitter suggested the Dynalite Gold XP shaft, which weights 117 gram and gives a high trajectory.

So which choice would be the better fit for me, the normal KBS Tour or the lighter KBS Tour 90?

It's tough to say. First off, you're messing with not only the static weighting but the swingweighting of the clubs (some manufacturers will adjust the head weights to hold the swingweight steady).

I can't hit a lighter club (static weight). I start making contact all over the face. You may be the same. I think the old saying is "swing the lightest club you can control." I think there's still a lot of truth to that old saying.

Am I right that the KBS Tour in Stiff weights 120g and the KBS Tour 90 weights 100g? Do they use tapered tip or parallel tip for the R9 irons? I don't even know the difference.

Is there any other big difference between the shafts besides the weight?

They weight 120 and 100 uncut. I have the KBS Tour and love them. I wouldn't go light, same as Iacas, I get wild with a lighter club.
