Is there a rationale in choosing a lighter vs heavier shafts for drivers? I had a PING G2 driver for a while, but after trying out the ever forgiving Burner ('08), I've been using that.

When I tested out the Titleist 909D3 and the R9, The strike seems much more solid and seems to travel further (just by the visuals, so not 100% sure about it). The heavier feel seems to provide solid momentum through the ball.

The Burner seems very light and easy to swing so it may be helping in generating more swing speed, but is it better(or efficient) to opt for a slightly heavier driver to pack a good punch? Like the R9 or 909s?

My swing speed is around 105'ish...

Probably you will play a stiff flex shaft by judging your swing speed. Most stiff flex graphite shaft will have 75 gram and up in weight, i know some pro players have 85-95g shaft. Lighter shaft should help increasing swing speed but you will need to have better control on that stick as well.

Yes, its a stiff flex. The current shaft is just 45g. Hmm, I think i'll experiment more with a heavier shaft...
