Feel like I ruined a great course

Here's the deal: A couple weeks ago I posted that I was playing a great Country Club in the area. Well, Thursday was the day, and man was it AMAZING! It was truly the most magnificent course I have ever played. I've played plenty of great public tracks but this CC took the prize. There was simply nothing wrong with the place. Perfect practice facilities, perfect course conditions, best greens I've ever played, beautiful and unique course design (Tom Fazio), etc, etc...

So needless to say I felt a ton of pressure to play well. I was only playing with my wife and Grandfather but I wanted so badly to play great. I played decent overall (78), but some of the shots I hit, particularly off the tee made me feel like I had just ruined the hole. I mean, I wanted to see a nice drive tower down the fairway with a slight draw and instead I'd hit a pull that I barely got away with or thin an approach that would end up short. Now, I ended up with a decent round due to short game, but I would have been more satisfied had I had a great ball striking day.

Anyone else ever feel like they just choke and ruin a great course or hole when they play an awesome track like this?

yep, about a month ago at The Grand GC . I was all geeked up for it, the first of four I was playing on a long weekend. Shot my highest score in over 2 years, what a disappointment; should have played one tee closer.

twice

played a course that a CDN TOUR event is held at
wanted to soo badly play well there (from the tips too - over 7300 yds) and hacked it up shooting an 85

also played a private CC this year, and went out to shoot a, 82

i think i put too much pressure on myself to score well at both places

Did it yesterday. Played a private Stanley Thompson design ranked in the top 50 courses in Canada and jacked it up. Couldn't hit a green in regulation to save my life, but played well off the tee and not too bad on the greens. It was the in between play that ruined it for me. The worst part is that there's a chance I'll never get to play it again, although I would like to have another shot at it.
