Charlie made a comment about the poor shape of the greens at this weeks LPGA stop, saying something to the effect that they have had a problem with the greens and have been playing on temporary greens for a long time in the southeast. I haven't heard anything about problems with greens. Any idea what he is talking about?

It's the heat... We have set records for amount of days in the 90's plus records for amount of hours the greens have been subjected to those temperatures. Couple that with a drought. And then when it does rain and the sun comes out it just bakes the greens even worse.. Most courses have bent grass or bermuda greens which do not handle the extreme heat well.. Many courses here around Atlanta have switched to Champions Bermuda to try and survive the summers better.

At the LPGA event the cameras are picking up where bermuda grass has gotten into the bent greens. It looks like bare spots but they arent bare. Most of the LPGA ladies are saying the greens are putting well.
