I hope you guys can advise me on this.........My driver is a Titleist 905R, 10.5 deg, Aldila nv 65 S shaft. I love this club and get great carry with a mid to high trajectory. The problem I have is it tends to balloon when hit into the wind. I dont want to change the club or shaft as I rarely hit a bad shot with it otherwise. So my question is this......I want alternative to hit into the wind on 5 or 6 holes on my home course, something that will produce a low boring trajectory. I was considering a 503H but im not sure its the right option.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think that there is going to be anything with a regular swing that is going to be lower with a more boring flight than the driver into the wind. It's already the lowest amount of loft, and is designed to spin less and knuckle through the air. So a 503 isn't going to help you alone, but a 503 with a stinger type shot will help more. Either way you are going to have to learn a different shot for what you really are trying to do. Try moving the ball a little towards center stance (maybe tee it lower), and try not to flatten your swing out at the bottom (trying not to catch the ball with the up swing w/ the driver).

A UGLY low running drive can still end up going 250 into the wind, but a 503 will only get you about 200-210ish into the same wind.

well said^ ...IMO i think you should just go to the range and take a normal swing with short follow through there low and roll for miles aka tiger stinger

eyevan,

This seems like a logical idea. However, moving the ball back in the stance and a steeper swing increase spin more than you can believe which will only exacerbate the excessive spin issue even more. rafadgafa, If you're spinning the ball too much with your current setup, you are leaving yardage out of your game which you can reclaim withe a proper fitting. I would imagine a change in loft and / or shaft will help your spin issues. Go find a good clubfitter and get fit. No club in any conditions will go as far as a properly fit driver, and you will not have to make any swing alterations to accomplish high straight drives, even in the strongest of winds.

Thanks for the help guys.
I would love to get fit for a club on a launch monitor but those facilities just dont exist here. I live in ireland and we just dont have places where you can get a fitting done......most clubs are bought off the shelf with shaft flex your only choice. I have been fitted for a set of Irons but that was only lie and loft and swing speed and was done on the practice range of a golf club. Some clubs have demo days but even at these the choice is limited to one manufacturer and with stock shafts. People here buy clubs by word of mouth or buy hitting a friends and then working from there.
