How would you guys say they compare?   Forgiveness, distance, Looks, etc.  I've have hit the JPX-800 pro bus not the MP-53s.  I seem to be striking my irons better & might be looking to upgrade irons, but I also do not want to purchase clubs that are above my skill level.   Sometimes you don't get a true feel just from hitting a club a few times in store.

Thanks for any info!

If you hit the JPX irons in the store into a net, I would brace yourself and then hit them where you can see the ball flight.

Not to sound like a moron, but I would forget the 53's unless you plan on getting your handicap down to 10 or so. They have a great reputation and are remarkable clubs, but not forgiving as they are a player's iron.

I have hit the JPX 800's irons and the JPX pros, 53's, 58's, and the blades. I bought 58's last fall.

As a general rule, the less forgiving the club, the shorter you will hit it since your ball flight will be lower and you won't get the same carry.

Initially, I didn't see that you had the JPX 800's and was going to recommend that you try them. Since you have them, I would play another season with them and cut a few strokes off your handicap. Otherwise, you are in danger of getting a club that will be frustrating as he{{ to play.

Thank you for all the feedback. I'm just to stick with the JPX-800s that I have

Hope all of this wasn't too intense for feedback. But, the clubs you have are truly great clubs - way better than the clubs I replaced last fall.

The good news: spring is fast approaching and with it all the joys and sorrows of golf!

Hello,

I've bought the JPX Pro (3-PW) with S300.

I think they a really nice for low to mid handicapers (7-18).

They are forgiving, but give also a good and remarkable feedback if you don't hit the ball in the sweetspot.

I really emphazie these clubs in the above mentioned handicap range.

If you are <6 I would definitly go to MP-53 or better MP-63, but you have to be a ball striker.

Ive demo'd them both and to be completely honest didnt notice a lot of difference between the two clubs.   They both have very little offset which is nice but the JPX have a little bit thicker top line which isnt as pretty to my eye.   I find the forgiveness to be negligable though obviously the JPX pro is more fogiving as its a slightly larger head.  The JPX pros also fly a little farther due to the slightly stronger loft and the lighter stock shaft.   I think if you have a enough game to play the JPX pros then the MP 53's should not be too much club.  To me it all comes down to looks and the 53's are a very pretty club

When I demoed (and subsequently bought) the JPX800 pros I didn't even have a hit of the MP53's. My reasoning was that if PGA pro's (and there are 3 guys on tour using them iirc) can use the 800 pros then why do I need less forgiving and harder to hit clubs than them. Get the JPX800's, I have gone from 17 to 13 in 2 months since I bought them. They are seriously awesome clubs. Getting fit for the right shaft and lie is crucial so make sure that is 100% correct before you pull the trigger.

Just throwing this out there, but all things being equal, I'd go with the irons that make me want to go golfing every tiime I see them. The ones I can't pass by without taking one and making a few swings. If your JPX whatevers do that, fill your boots. Personally, I'd have gone for the MP-53s.

Im sorry if this comes across as a bit harsh but as an 17 handicap, Id say you have no business even thinking about MPs.  Stick with the 800 Pros and when you get down to single digits, then and only then consider a set of MPs.  MPs are great irons but you have to hit them flush and you need to know what youre doing.  They dont offer you much help and wont mask your swing faults.

At your level you might even be pushing the limits of your swing with the 800 Pros.  You might want to consider just the standard JPX-800s. They arent forged but they will be a little bit easier to hit than the 800 Pros.

Yeah, the 63 is the one I was thinking of. 63 or 62.

    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
    • Day 96 (18 Mar 24) - Continued work with the Divot Board with the GW and hard foam balls.  Focused on small target/small miss…setup to hit target about 30yds out - success if it hit within 6’ circle of target, fail if outside.  Had decent success averaging about 3 out of 4 (hitting in groups of four).
