Hi,

Two years ago I purchased two Ping G5 fairway woods (at a price I couldn't refuse) to match my G5 driver and to replace the garbage 3 and 5 woods that I was using. The two fairway woods I bought have the Prolaunch Blue 75R shaft.   I am pretty happy with these clubs with my generic 11.5 hdcp game.

A tragedy unfolded last year and my Ping G5 driver with the stock TFC shaft broke.  It was a stiff shaft.  It is now TWO stiff shafts!!  LOL!  Anwyay, I would like to complete the fairway wood set (and perhaps mimic the feel a bit) by putting a Prolaunch Blue shaft on my driver.  My swing is a little quick at the top.  Should I get the 75R shaft or, being it is a driver and I have always had a stiff shaft in the past, should I get the 75S instead.  I am worried the 75R might be too soft.  A buddy of mine who had made his fair share of drivers thinks my swing is quick enough that the 75S would be right and the 75R could hurt me (like it can get any worse!!)..

Thoughts?

Thanks!!

Well . it seems the 75 works for me in the fairway woods since I hit them okay. .. but then again, I have never tried the 65.  And maybe the 65 works better in the driver than the 75 would. I dunno.

May I ask why you would suggest the 65 stiff or regular over the 75 stiff?

Thanks!

[=3][/] If you get the Prolaunch Blue for your drivewr it needs to be a Stiff 65G. Usally the driver shaft is lighter than that of fairway woods. I have the 65g in my driver, whilke my fairway woods are bioth 75g.

I too have a slightly heavier shaft in my woods compared to driver, but as for reg or stiff, there's not much difference between the 2 anyway! Stiffer can often result in straighter shots, I prefer stiff shafts even though my swing speed allegedly suggests regular, I rarely can tell the difference, it's only when I try x stiff I can notice, so don't melt ya brain over it, just try as many as ya can and see how they feel to YOU!

I was looking at the specs. If I read it right the 65 has lower torque and higher flight? Thats a cool combo. 2.8 torque is starting to get controllable for me. The 75 was more like 3.8. Thats backwards so I suspect my reading was off somehow.

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
