Fairway metal fitting questions.

So I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a new driver, and was wondering if there are ideal launch monitor conditions for a fairway metal?  

 

My current setup has been a 10.5 degree driver and a 15 degree fairway metal, same manufacturer and relatively similar vintage to each other.  I was fitted for the driver and bought the fairway metal based on the driver.  

 

Now that I'm shopping for the new driver, I'm wondering if there's a smarter way to pick out a fairway metal.  

 

I typically use my fairway metal for short par 4's and anytime I'm in the fairway and a long ways off.

If you like your current 3W, do you need to swap it out? Some of the tour pros carry fairway woods which came out several years ago.

  • Steve Marino: 5W is seven-year-old Cleveland Launcher Comp.
  • Ian Poulter: 5W is Titleist 906 F2 (circa 2007)
  • Ben Crane: 3W and 5W are both TM V-Steel (circa 2004?)

 

I'm sure they got some reshafts, but the heads have some longevity.
