The backstory:

Since roughly March on thru the present, I have been having an internal battle with my irons that's known as the 'shanks'.  This has caused my HC to go from a 7.9 to a 10.5.  I was almost to the point where I was dreading hitting any iron outside of my sand or gap wedge for fear of a shank.

Yesterday, I felt progress, however.  Played a course that has a slope of 134 and shot 87.  Had it not been for a few putts inside of 4 ft. that I rushed, it could've been an 83.  I only hit 1 of those shots and I was actually feeling confident over the ball.  At the end of the day, I felt compelled to post this just because I feel like I made some headway all by reading Golf Digest articles and putting in some much needed range work.

*diatribe over, thanks for indulging me*

I get a case of the 'shanks' once every few months. Literally the worst thing that can happen in a golf game. Also I find it very difficult to fix as your swing just feels the same as normal!
