I realize the board is pretty new and not everyone knows and trusts eachother yet. But on another board I used to participate in, every christmas we used to have a secret santa pass.

Basically the way it works is everyone who wants to participate is assigned to a secret santa and also acts as someone elses secret santa. That way everyone who gives a gift recieves one. You anonomously send a gift to your recipient and then leave certain clues for your recipient to try and guess who your santa is. We could limit the gifts to $10-15 including shipping so no one's neck's on the line. Since there are certain items such as balls, tees, divot tools, towels, and grips golfers always need it should be a fun way to get to know one another.

I'd be happy to organize it if anyone's interested.

I'm up for it if anyone else is. The group is small enough now that this will be the only year it's manageable.

Looks like there's some interest, why not keep it open for people to sign up until Wednesday. If you would like to participate, please e-mail me your preffered mailing address:
t_madefan@yahoo.com
and I'll start pairing people up!
Just remember to use Secret Santa on the return address and try and leave some clues relevant to posts on the message board to try and let the recipient know who you are!

Just use the e-mail in my profile, please. I'd post it again, but ya know... hate those e-mail grabbing bots all over the web these days. :)

Bump... curious how it's going for those involved.

I sent my package last week sometime, and it should arrive very soon.

Bump again: did everyone get their stuff? I received mine awhile back. I've thanked the dude who sent it (don't want to say his name here for fear of spoiling it).

The present I sent was received awhile back too, so all is well here. Todd? Aaron? Kiran? Jeff? How was your secret santa experience?

Oh, and since it won't give anything away, I will list what I got...
  • A gopher headcover (the girlfriend adores it, so she owns it now... but her clubs are in my living room, so....)
  • A sleeve of Nike ONE Blacks
  • A couple of Stinger tees (they really do work)
The list above probably cost a little more than the $10-$15 total we'd all agreed to, but I believe that the person sending it was trying to say "thanks" for having the blog and forum.

Listing what I sent would give it away, so I won't do that.

Yep, had a great experience. I've used my gift all weekend long and it's super handy plus super golf geeky. That fits me pretty well though. Thanks to whoever had it sent my way.

Haven't got a chance yet to use mine, but it's something I'm sure I'll be using quite frequently - a Swing Sock which is a weighted thingie you put on an iron to warm up with similar to those weight donuts baseball players put on their bats while in the on-deck circle. Plus, a couple of ball/tee sets, one of which has holiday logos - perfect for a Christmas nut like myself. This was an awesome idea.

Now that everyone has recived their gifts, I've sent private messages to everyone telling them who their SS was. Thanks again to everyone for participating, this was a great success and I hope everyone had a great time, I know I did!!!!!!

Thanks again to all who participated.

My gift was wonderful as well. I received a 2005 PGA Tour factoid desk calendar. It's one of the tear-off sheet kind that goes day-by-day. It's the perfect thing to bring about story ideas for my blog and keep me staring at golf all day long, even when the computer is off. I'm thrilled with it.

I'm also glad that my recipient found my gift useful. Just kinda gives me a warm fuzzy.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
