I have a practice club I use around the house that I want to regrip it with a grip trainer.

I don't have double-sided tape and I'm being lazy so can I just use a high quality, thick scotch's packing tape

and just double it over?

ie make a "loop" like us old people use to do years ago when they didn't sell double-sided tape.

Thanks

As there would be nothing binding the two slick sides of the tape together, I imagine the grip would slip and slide worse than a real Slip 'n Slide.  The tape would stick to the grip, and to the shaft, but not to each other.

Why not just use air and blow it on.

The other problem you would have would be activating the tape. What you are saying might work in theory, but how would you slide the grip on? Grip tape is unique becuase the glue is deactivated for a time, then goes back to being sticky. I don't think regular tape would go back to being sticky if it was deactivated to slide the grip on. Just go to a golf shop and have them do it for a couple of bucks or see if you can get one piece of tape from them.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

You can use regular masking tape and mineral spirits, but it doesnt work quite as well as grip tape.

Really though if you have the tool blowing on the grips is the quickest and easiest method.

    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.
    • I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
