Questions about the Titleist 907D1 and 907D2

Next Tuesday, Jack and I will be interviewing someone from Titleist (we know who - we'd just rather not say his name here) re: the new 907 drivers similar to how we interviewed George Sine in today's podcast (see episode 054 ).

Do any of you have any questions you'd like us to ask him? Here's what we have currently:

Tell us about the 907 line, the D1 and the D2. What are the differences in trajectory and shot shape and what's the target golfer for each?

Is the D2 a "tweaked" 905R? What benefits will the better player see if they switch from a 905R to a D2?

The 905 series had an aluminum sleeve that, upon its introduction, irked some people who like to reshaft clubs on their own. The 907 does away with the sleeve, correct?

Titleist is not the first company to come out with a geometric driver, but yours is triangular while the others are square. Is Titleist still catering to the middle- to low-handicapper while the square drivers are really aimed at the higher handicapper? Do you see the D1 as more of a "better player's geometric driver" and the D2 is a traditional shotmaker's driver?

How are the sales dynamics between the D1 and the D2? I've heard from some retailers that the Nike and Callaway high-MOI drivers are bringing customers in (to demo days or whatnot), but many or most of the customers perceive the geometric drivers to be shorter, so they end up buying the traditional counterpart.

Titleist has, for some time now, employed a dual driver strategy - the 975J and D, 983K and E, the 905S/T and then the S/R, and now the D1 and D2. Is it about keeping things simple for inventory, the consumer, or because two different types of drivers are all golfers really needs?

Is the D1 the loudest Titleist driver ever? How important is sound in building a driver?

How important is it that Titleist offers a fairly wide variety of stock shafts while other companies, like Cleveland, are getting away from it or others, like TaylorMade, are trying to push co-branded shafts?

Can you dispel the myth that PGA Tour players play vastly different equipment than we can buy on store shelves? Is a retail D2 clubhead the same Adam Scott might use, albeit without the fine-tuned personalization of face angle, loft, and so forth?

We know there's a 907D4 out there, an improved "big brother" to the 905S, and a 907D3. Should we expect their release in the fall? What can you tell us about them?

How important is Tour player feedback to development and Tour player winning to marketing?

Do Cobra and Titleist engineers collaborate?
