Last fall I started a thread about hating scrambles http://thesandtrap.com/t/54466/i-hate-scramble-tournaments and until today haven't played in one since. One of the guys in my normal weekend group works for the local Budweiser distributor and they sponsored a tournament for one of the local sports bars and our group played as the Budweiser team. We've all been playing pretty good lately and today was not any different. Played great as a team until the booze started flowing and a couple of guys on my team got loose. Since I don't drink and one of the other guys drinks while he plays all the time and is used to it, the 2 of us had to pretty much carry the team for the last 9 or 10 holes.

To make a long story, short, we shot 53 (-19) and finished in 1st by one shot, payout was $600. Although I still don't like scrambles, today was a good day.

The course we played was short, I hit a 8 iron second to one of the par 5's. We had 2 pars, 3 eagles and the rest birdies. Like most scrambles there were some BS rules, on the front each player could throw the ball (without having to count a stroke) and on the back each player could roll the ball (without counting a stroke), it just worked out that we used these are the correct times. To make it more interesting we also played closest to the pin on every hole for $.50, and $1 for a shot inside the length of the flag stick. I think that helped us to hit every green. I also made a bunch of putts, the last hole (par 3) we all found the green but the closest ball was mine at 42 feet (measured with my bushnell) and I made the putt, just one of those days.
