I am a lefty presently playing Cleveland CG4 Tour irons.I bought these new in 2007 from what I can remember.I am presently playing an iron set made up of the following irons.5,6,7,8,9,pw,gap,sand,and lob wedges. The clubs were ordered +1/2 inch long and 1 degree upright lie.I still like the clubs but lately it feels like hitting with a broom handle sometimes.Especially the 5-7 irons. The others dont matter so much and I am able to get high enough ball flight for the most part. The irons have Stiff stock Cleveland Action Lite Tour shafts in them.Does anyone know the particulars on this shaft? I know it is a proprietary shaft made for Cleveland by True Temper but I have no idea how it ranks to other steel iron shafts or the DSFI, swing speed numbers, kickpoint, torque, etc that go with this particlular shaft.I am thinking I need to drop down and get a more flexible shaft.I typically hit the lob wedge (58 degree) about 87 yards.Sand edge (54 degree) 94 yard.Gap wedge (50 degree) about 100 to 105.PW (46 degree) about 110 to 120 yards.9 iron (42 deg) about 125 to 130).8 iron (38 degree) about 135 to 140.7 iron (34 degree) 145 to 150.6 iron (30.5 degree)  150 to 155.5 iron.5 iron (27 degree) around 155 yards to 165 yards.I am referring to carry distances not including roll. The lower number irons (5-7) many times feel harsh in my hands with little feedback of the shaft flexing.I am also hitting the ball lower than I think it should be.I think I need a shaft that will feel a little less harsh in my hands when hitting and also want a little higher ball flight in the 5-7 irons. If I had the numbers that correspond with these particular shafts it would make it much easier to select a new shaft for these irons.I have actually thought about purchasing a new set of the Cleveland CG16 Tour irons with the Traction 85 stock shaft in them.I recently hit some of the Cleveland CG Black Titianium irons with a titianium head and Nippon 850 steel shafts in them.I liked them but they are very expensive to buy. They recommended that I get +1/4 in length as well as 2 degree upright lie for those particular clubs.

I will soon be 53 years old and I am 5 ft. 10 in tall and weigh around 177 at this time.

Anyone got new shaft recommendations?

I am adding a little more information that I have found in hopes of getting some advice on a new shaft recommendation.I have found out the shaft presently in my clubs is very similar to the TT Lite XL.It is a mid-flex iron.Presently they feel somewhat stiff to me in the 5 6 and 7 irons and I would like to have higher ball flight in these irons. The first post has lot of additional info. in it if anyone would like more info. before making a recommendation.I am thinking that TT Dynalite Gold or something similar might work.Anyone else got any ideas? My present clubs are +1/2 inch in length and one degree upright in a stiff shaft.

Three different teaching pros have told me this advice for male golfers in their early 50s: If you're still playing stiff shafts, get on the launch monitor and make sure they're still bending for you.

I kept stiff shafts until about age 58, and messed up my swing tempo by fighting against too-stiff shafts. Just something you might want to check.

I would suggest that some of the recent changes in iron head design really do help the right golfer. Get on a launch monitor and find the best shaft + head combo.

Focus, connect and follow through!
