Good day,

I'm a poor college student who loves to play golf.  Could anyone suggest some very affordable courses (like $10-$20/round) ?  Looking for something more than Interbay's short 9.

Also, I know about the joke of a course, at Greenlake.

Me and my buddies always said we were under 18 at Jackson to get the minor rate @ $12 for 18 holes....but we would always get the funniest looks from workers (they knew what was up, haha)

Anyway I wanna be honest now and wanna play a full round, not just the driving range!

Jackson and other Municipal courses do have twilight and super twilight rates, where the price usually dips down to like $26 or like $16 depending on how late it is...usually super twilight means you won't be able to finish your round before it gets dark though.

And fwiw, i've seen ppl sneak onto the Jackson Par 3 without paying lol.  No comment on that practice, just saying I've seen it done. I hate that par 3 for making us tee off on mats though.

BrotherBear,

Cool, thx for the tips -- haha i won't hold you accountable if I happen to accidentally play the par 3 ! haha

I had the privilege of playing the Seattle Golf Course (my Uncle is a member there....who plays 1 time per year........... which I find horribly obnoxious...I imagine that's how most of that club rolls---is that like a $10,000 round?hahah)

I feel your pain, it's hard to find nice public courses in the Seattle area without paying up the ass... After moving back up here from CA I was shocked at the prices. In WA if you want to golf a nice public course it's going to cost you anywhere from $80 - $150, and in Cali, you can find an equivalent course for $50, and usually they have twilight and college specials too.. I also noticed the cheap courses around here aren't even worth playing because they are so shitty and poorly maintained...

But there are a couple choices, you could always golf super twilight at Druids Glen, that's a pretty nice course and I think it's $25 for super twilight and that includes a cart... I got fed up with paying $100 + for a nice course and decided to get a membership over at the Mill Creek Country Club which is by my house... You might want to look at getting a membership at a private course, you can find some pretty decent deals at your age...

I played at West Seattle and Jefferson all the time when I lived there and with whatever the card you could buy, it got really cheap by the end of the season - especially in the evening.  I also remember Lake Spannaway (sp?) near Tacoma was a great course, but a bit of a drive.  Not sure if it is expensive now, but it wasn't 6-7 years ago.

    • Just want to share a quick update with everyone. I went to the range the week before last, even though I took it easy no significant pain occurred just a slight twinge when I swung my #4 hybrid. The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning. However I think switching back to graphite shafts is definitely gonna happen, my mp15's were fitted with X shafts and having something lighter will help.
