I have a taylormade R11s driver with the stock aldila phenom shaft (stiff shaft). I hit the club the way i want some of the time, but consistent control and center face contact is more important to me than distance (averaging 260y to 270y). I want to cut the 45.75 inch shaft about an inch and a half to 44.25 inches for more control. I was advised cutting the shaft from the but end will not affect the shaft flex or kick point, but it will affect the swing weight which is currently at D-4.
My question is for each half inch cut from the shaft how much weight do I need to add to the club head (lucky that R series taylormade drivers have external weights that can be increased or decreased)???
