I live on the East Coast (Mid-Atlantic region) where golf season for most ends after Thanksgiving and then starts up again right around the second weekend of March. I've had a terrible golf season, by far my worst. I just don't have a lot of confidence in my swing these days. I'm not real consistent off the tee and I've been spraying the ball left and right with my irons. It's not every outing. Some outings I play real well, but the majority I've played poorly.

I've been thinking about taking a few lessons now and braving the cold to practice through the winter months. Does anyone have a perspective on whether this could have a positive or negative impact on my game?

Here's one way to look at your question.   Assume you're a gambler and going to make a big bet on one of two players who were identical at the end of the season.   One of them worked with a coach and continued to work on his game over the winter, even though conditions were suboptimal.    The other didn't do anything.     Which player would you bet on?

Here's my off season routine

Weekly work outs, primarily to raise the strength of my left side of my body, also focusing on core, hips, and flexibility

Yoga at least 3 nights a week

Practice balancing twice a week

Practice putting stroke

Practice slow motion swings with a video camera or mirror, basically working on positions and muscle memory.

I usually take 1-2 lessons over the month. I don't like to take many in a row, i get bogged down and i like to make improvements between lessons. If i take to many, i don't perceive improvements.
