Cleveland CG Black Wedges

Are you just referring to the Black Pearl version of the wedges?  If so, the "black pearl" is just one of the color/finish variations Cleveland offers, it's not an actual club.  Are  you looking at a CG 14, CG 15, CG16?  The 588? 

Cleveland CG Black wedges came in just ahead of the 588 and the 588 RTX. CG Black looks like the CG16 Black irons.

CG Black wedges tout maximum forgiveness, and come in only four lofts. Stock shaft is the NS PRO 850GH in a Wedge flex.

As per Fromthecoast, there's whole CG Black Collection including Drivers, FWs and irons, plus nifty accessories. Irons have really strong lofts, so the line is probably pitched to the SGI sector.

I got them confused initially with the Callaway Razr Black woods, although they don't look much alike other than black coloration. I remember seeing the CG Black maybe this time last year, but I haven't paid much attention to them. I don't remember seeing much on them in the May regional demo day.

If you would consider just three wedges, look at 44*, 50* and 56*.  What you might do is get a SW you like, and then find a GW in that model that will split the distance between your iron-set PW and the SW.

For financial resource maximization, note that golf shops still have lots of CG16 wedges for sale, and quite a few CG14 wedges also. Both these models are perimeter weighted and slight cavity and can be had for $89 in many cases. Both models offer a lot more variety in loft and bounce than the CG Black wedges.

You could pretty much be me. My Cleveland CG16 Satin Chrome Irons are strong and given me a 44° PW. I've added 50° and 56° MD Golf NV Drew wedges and considering a 60° Cleveland CG16 Black Pearl for my loft wedge which I've found on offer.

I love my Cleveland irons and the Cleveland wedges are generally considered some of the best around so I reckon the Black Pearl wedges will be a good shout.

More on the CG Black family of golf clubs.  I had seen some prototypes this time last year, but don't recall seeing them on the shelf.

Manager of a local golf shop said he had see a couple of Black prototypes, but none had ever been shipped to his store.

I just got off the phone with Cleveland Golf customer service, and the rep said the CG Black line has been in the stores since Spring 2012, and are still part of the marketing mix.

I was searching the web this morning for CG Black wedge reviews when I saw your post ... I had just ordered a set of CG Black irons in graphite from an online retailer and was trying to figure out if I needed to go after an extra wedge (or two).  I did find a review posted online, which can be found here:  http://www.golfsliced.com/reviews/more-clubs/cleveland-cg-black-wedge/.  Other than that, I've not seen much out there ... makes me believe people are using other wedges for their sets (IMHO).

So, what are your impressions of the CG Black irons?  Do you find them to perform as advertised?  Just curious ...
