New fairway wood....

Ive got a woggo set of starter clubs which I enjoy playing with but was thinking about starting the process of looking to replace it with something "better".

So the question is, would something like one of those new Nike fairway woods or rocketballs or taylor made mean Id get more distance than I currently get with my Wilson woggo 3 wood?

AND...if I could get more distance would this be better than dropping £250 to £300 on a driver, which I am really struggling to control at the moment?
