Hello everyone.

My name is Doug and I just started swing the clubs about three weeks ago.  The family signed me up for two free lessons and I'm on my way.  My buddy (who is also just starting out) and I played a par 3 9-hole course this weekend and I shot a horribly unrespectable 49.  I'm using an entry-level Japanese brand of clubs (Fit Way).  Oh yeah, I'm stationed in Japan for the next two years.

I don't really know anything about golf, beyond some very basics, but it is very relaxing and therapeutic.  I look forward to what the future brings with this golf game.

Thanks,

Doug

Welcome to the forum...that socre isn't horrible for just starting out. From what I've seen with the coworkers I'm teaching is they can't grasp the idea of how to chip, may be similar for you. Keep at it and you'll do well.

On a side note, not sure where you're stationed but if they have a base course play there as much as you can. It may not be the nicest course (never been stationed in Japan so I'm not sure the condition of them), but it should be cheap and fairly wide open. Many of the base courses I've played seem to play short and rather easy compared to higher end courses or muni's.
