My Swing (JoeRobert)

I've been Playing Golf for: 15 years total

My current handicap index or average score is: 20

My typical ball flight is: straight / slight fade

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: hitting a flat shot w/ my iron's & pull / pull-hook w/ driver

Hey Guys, the sand trap is an awesome forum and I'm pretty much browsing the topics everyday. I have been playing golf off / on since I was a kid, but I am starting to dedicate a lot of time to my game to improve my handicap. With my current work schedule (14 days on/off), I am seriously at the range everyday working on my swing. I am very confident with my irons and feel like my best shot are my approaches. Once I can get rid of my 3-puts and start hitting the fairways with my drives, I believe I can get my handicap closer to a 10.

Right now, I cannot hit my driver to save my life; every shot is a pull or a pull hook. When I do hit a straight ball, I am only getting a total distance of 220-240 yards. This is especially frustrating because I see these highschool kids half my size driving the ball 300+ yards. I feel like I'm getting good weight transfer throughout my swing, but think I'm lacking consistency with my extension and follow through. After looking at my own swing on video, it seems like I am swinging the club very slowly so maybe I'm not generating enough club head speed on my drives?

Anyways, attached are my swings with the help of my wife so if anybody can give me any advice on my swing, I would greatly appreciate it!

thanks and take care!

First thing I would do is turn out both feet at address, your feet are square and the knees are rotated inward. Makes the pivot stuff harder to accomplish.

Also make sure the grip lies in the fingers of the left hand, looks a little on the palmy side.

So do those two things and post up another video.

Thanks Mike!

I went back to the range this morning and worked on opening my toes as well as dropping the shaft further into my left hand. I've read about gripping the club with your fingers and not your palms, but I'm usually only focusing on my right hand.

Overall, I feel more comfortable in my stance when I open my feet at address so I will continue to make that part of my routine. I was hoping that by opening my stance, I would stop picking up my left heal during my backswing but that's not the case.

See attached additional videos from this morning; please let me know if you have any questions.

- I apologize, but I was a little off on my camera angle. It looks like I'm placing the ball back in my stance, but for my 8i, I always place it one ball width front of my center line.

It's really interesting watching myself swing a golf club on a video because I'm noticing a few things that appear odd. I took snapshots of each part of my swing and it looks like I am letting my hands fall back behind the club head at impact. I have always wondered why I don't get very good distance with my shots compared to my buddies, but maybe I'm flopping it.

My usual yardage is AW-80yds, PW-100yds, 9i-120yds, 8i-135yds, 7i-150yds, 6i-160yds, 5i-170yds, 4i-180yds
