The venerable sirmilton has brought interesting accounts to the table regarding SOME Tour Players and their array of lifestyles (see his post on the Sergio/ignorant poll thread).

Mentioned are:

--Huge amounts of cash

--Groupies (my word, not his-but it seems accurate)

--Snobbery and/or Bad Manners

What's particularly interesting is his first hand witness of the behavior. Has anyone else seen this first hand?

A girl I'm seeing's friend was at the FedEx Cup in Chicago in September, and a member of Sergio's entourage approched her and her friend and asked if they would like to join Sergio and Camillo for dinner that evening.

Long story short, the 2 girls hooked up with Sergio and his caddie.

Funny part of the story, is when the caddie got back to one of the girls' condo, he spotted her golf clubs and said "Hey, golf clubs!", and she goes "Don't worry, you won't have to carry them anywhere!"

Another funny comment was made by the girl that hooked up with Sergio.. she said "Wow, I can't believe Sergio closed the deal with , he usually chokes on sundays"

Apparently Sergio does this quite often.. maybe he should concentrate a little more and he'd start winning more tourneys..

Well, I followed Ricky Barnes and Jon Mills in the final round at the NWT event at Empire Lakes a while back. I can't speak to their financial situation, and they both had great manners towards the crowds, the course, and each other. And there was a good sized group of very good looking girls following them. At least two tens in there. I think another one of the group was affiliated with one, or at least tried chatting with, of the caddies. I didn't quite follow what was happening, because my focus was on how good players play the course.

In December's Golf Magazine , in a story on Villegas, David Feherty describes most Tour players as "...content to just make a few million dollars and get laid..."

The fact is that many of them are young and good looking with money to burn and time on their hands.

The few times I've hung-out with baseball players or guys from other sports, they've been fairly down-to-earth but there's usually that moment late in the night where the pretty women will be asked, "Do you want to go someplace?" Then it's such me and the trainer or pr guy.

As for living like rock stars, a friend of mine was formally married to a lead singer of a big rock band. From the stories I've heard from her, comparatively athletes are corn fed choirboys.
