I have not been playing that much lately..

I went out recently and video taped my swing..

I can clearly see that my range of motion is limited.. I do have a sore back from chasing my 1-year-old..

Here's the video

Can anyone recommend some golf-specific exercises?

Or if you can find other faults with my swing.. I would appreciate that as well.

Thanks..

Nice swing I_Like_Turtles!

I see just a few small things that could use some attention.

1) Your extension going back could be a little farther and a little less inside/flat. It's difficult to see completely though, because of the one camera angle. Otherwise, your top position looks good, torqued, and ready to unwind!

2) Your hip turn from the top is a little too fast. The frame before impact, I can see that your hips are a little too far ahead of the your shoulders and your hands look a little stuck back and not connected with your shoulders. After your forward hip bump at the top, shift your weight forward and simultaneously turn, turn, turn and accelerate those shoulders around so they catch up to, and then pass the hips after ball impact. I can see that you're a little short of a full enough shoulder rotation at the finish pose for a powerful swing.

A good exercise would be to place a chair in front of you. If someone were sitting in the chair, they'd face the target. Set the back of the seat level with the ball. Without a club, first swing back to the top with your shoulders and arms. If you want, bump your hips a small amount forward towards your left toes by the time you've reached the top. Then in one unit, slowly rotate your shoulders, right arm and right hand around until your right hand slaps into the back of the chair. But while doing this, make sure you do not move your hips. If they move, only allow them to rotate from the pull of your shoulders. Do this over and over, getting faster each time. If you've done this exercise correctly, this will be the correct impact position for your hands, arms, hips, and shoulders. Once you're comfortable with this move, remove the chair and repeat the same, but keep accelerating your shoulders around until your chest is 30° to 45° beyond the target. This is the rotational amount you'll want to achieve by the end pose position.

3) I can see a slight lift up with your arms and left foot at impact. Maybe you're subconsciously doing this in order to avoid impacting the club face into the ground. If I were you, I'd work on overcoming this flaw and try to stay level through the hitting area and learn to want to dig though the grass and dirt.

Hey Thanks... Yeah I noticed that I am lifting up as well.

I'll try the chair gig.. But I'll have to wait until my wife is out of the house..

I see the same things as the above poster mentioned, but it also looks like you are casting the club through impact. What is your typical miss?
