I hit a nice fade with my irons, recently I have noticed my divots are at about a 20 to 30 degree angle to the target line, more than usual...

Ball still flies well, slightly higher trajectory. I play slightly open stance and most of the divots are in front of the ball, but it is starting to look odd to me?

Any input or suggestions?

PS. I don't like hitting a draw with my irons, usually goes straight or very slight draw, I close my stance and hit straight through the target line, divit is more staright line to target.

did you mean 20 to 30 deg to the right or left of the target line?
this does sound a bit odd but it really depends on how open you stand.
if your feet are 20 to 30 deg open, expect the divot point 20 to 30 deg to the left of target line, but parallel to your feet/shoulder alignment.
so your ball starts along your swing plane but fades to where the club face is aiming.

to the left of the target line, i don't stand that open though, front foot maybe 3 inches back from right foot, from a square set up.

That is why your ball curves.

The more you go left, the more the ball will curve.

Equipment, Setup, Finish, Balance, and Relax. All equal in importance and all dependent on each other. They are the cornerstones of a good golf swing.

The next time you go hit balls try to line up on a club, square your stance, get your ball position right and then see where your divots are.

A lot of times if you are playing an "open" stance you lose where your ball position should be and it could be too far forward. If it is forward your divot could very well be more left than usual.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will start lining up square or even slightly closed...I have fought doing this because I feel more comfortable with an open stance. But I have to give it an honest try...like right now...off to the course for 18, and then 36 tomorrow (Morning scramble, then a fousome $$ match in the afternoon (nickle and dime stuff...of course)!!

Have a great weekend fellers.
