Very nice ball, can work this one pretty nicely.

Good Distance, but, not as far as the Srixon Z-UR... Farther than the BlackMAX.

Off the Irons... Good Workable ball, can controll it nicely, but, I played the BlackMAX, and they were better.

Off the Short clubs, can stop this ball okay, not like a Pro V1 or Srixon Z-UR. The BlackMAX spins too much for me.

Putter: Nice, very nice feel off the putter.

All in All, a very well made ball from Nike.

Next Ball: Callaway HX Tour 56... I heard these spin like crazy, and if you hit it good, it will put excessive backspin.....

I haven't ever played any of the Nike balls. I wonder which is most like the Pro V1x, perhaps with a little bit more spin (but nowhere near as much as the V1).

The black is like a v1x with more spin to me. The gold is more like a V1.

A'ight. Cool. I just wish the Nike balls had a "straighter" logo so that I could use it when aligning my putts.

Draw a line on it Erik. You know those little plastic things that fit over the ball with a guide to put your sharpie.

I would, but I don't like a big ugly line on my ball.

FWIW, I played 9 holes today with a Nike ONE Gold, and it seemed to act a lot like a Pro V1x. The black spins even less? That's gonna be tough to imagine. It's not like I was ballooning shots with the Gold or anything.

Hmmmmm. With the V1x and the V1, the difference is very clear. I dunno if the difference between the Gold and the Black (and the Platinum too?) is very big.

Thoughts, anyone??? Above, I was told the Black would be my V1x.

Hmm. I got a bunch of spin out of that black... It felt a little softer than an X. But these days I'm liking the X a little more...

Strange........ I played with both of them, and I can see the difference off the greens. Black spins lesser. Gold Spins more. As for distance, Gold is more like a Pro V1 for me.......

A little more time with the gold today and I can see how it spins more like a V1. If I had to label the balls, though, I'd put the gold as spinning less than the V1 but more than the V1x. If the black spins less than the V1x, then that'll be too little spin for me.

    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
    • I had an interesting one yesterday, a local qualifier for the US Senior Open, at the Cascades Course at the Homestead.  Well, first things first, the VSGA arrnged for the officials to play the Cascades on Monday at the players' practice round rate.  Its lots of fun, rather old-style (built in the 1920s).  anyway, a player missed a short putt, and (apparently embarrassed) took a step to be ready to tap the ball back in.  The ball lipped out, and hit the player's foot.  I was nearby, and they waved me over, and asked "What do we do now?"  I was pretty sure of the ruling, but asked them to wait for a few seconds while i double-checked.  I did have it correct, even though its one of the more confusing rules in the book right now.  I'll leave the correct answer out for now, in case anyone wants to guess, or research it, and post their ruling.
