Need advice. Playing Ping G20 black dot, senior flex shafts in 5-sw, regular flex shafts in driver and fairways. Hitting irons and driver straight, fading my 3-4 hybrids. Should I be looking at a senior flex change in hybrids? Last fitting advice was leave driver and hybrids with reg flex.

I tend to follow the shaft weight rule more than flex. My driver is 60g, 3 and 5 wood, 70 grams and my hybrids 80g, all Project X Hzrdus Smoke Black 5.5 shafts. Shaft flex can vary from brand to brand and even within a manufacturer’s different models. My irons are mid-weight steel shafts, Project X LZ 5.5 at 115g.

What are the weights of your wood and iron shafts?

Getting the right golf shaft can be a tricky process. For me, I got fitted for the Tensei Blue CK Pro 70 TX. My swing responded better to a golf shaft that had a mid launch, with mid-low spin profile. From there I just looked up info about the golf shaft. It has a reasonably low torque value. This helped me stop spraying the ball right, even on decent shots.

What produces the spin and launch is the bend profile.

If I am looking for a golf shat for my 3-wood or hybrid, I would use this information to find something similar.

For me, mI like something with low torque, but then a softer tip and mid-section for feel.

This transitioned into my iron fitting where I found I responded better to soft stepping the iron shafts. Either go with the KBS Tour, or soft step the C-Taper.

A proper fitting can give you a lot of information for future purchases.

A proper fitting would help, but in lieu of that, a shaft weight closer to your irons would be better IMO.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
