Last year at the start of the shutdown, I spent a lot of time swinging. In April I injured myself and have costochondritis. I am curious if anybody else here has had or does have this.

I love golf but unfortunately, the best I can do is swing for a week or two and then I’m having to take off 2-3 weeks due to rib pain. I can’t make any progress and I’ve had to stay away from the board because it will do my injury no good.

Over the as 6 weeks or so, I’ve shut down completely and am trying to heal. The worst part is that it doesn’t get any better with rest or RICE.

I’ve gotten so desperate to heal this injury, that I’ve resorted to all sorts of things. Yoga, herbal remedies, and stretching among other more drastic things. I’ve seen the topics of intercoastal muscle strains and rib fractures come up here. I’m just hoping that I’m not alone in this and maybe someone here has successfully gotten over Costochondritis.

I love golf and I love practicing. But I can’t fill the desire that I have to play because I’m physically not able. I’ve got a young’n that im trying to raise I in the game and I want to become a good player before he realizes I suck! (Half kidding here)

if im alone, on this board with this issue, please pray for me, im at my whits end!

    • Some sway is okay as long as you get your weight going forward during transition and downswing. Your weight will go towards the rear foot in the backswing because your arms and club go that way. As you get near the top, you should feel your weight start to move forward. As you transition, the weight should move to the front foot and off the rear. As the arms go down from the top, the body starts to rotate or pivot. At impact, most of the weight should be on the front foot.

    • Sounded like he had the option hit a new ball if he didn’t like the shot, playing scramble with himself. Hitting a new ball meant using an option, which locked him in to that option, but for the hole or round? And what were the options?
    • Day 27: Continued working on top of backswing piece. It was almost dark so didn’t really care about hitting balls so just used Almost Golf balls. Would have liked to film and compare to lesson footage but not enough light.
