can't you get good local rates at torrey pines??

welcome to the site.

Yeah you can get local rates at Torrey Pines and I know that's a very good course. I'm looking for more of cheaper beginner courses.

Not in texas.. haha. im located in south san diego close to chula vista... there are like a few golf couses around the area. Eastlake Country Club, Chula Vista, one in bonita, one in national city, and one in rolling hills. i need to get better before i can set foot a course.

welcome to the forums, what part of san diego are you in? i live in kearny mesa. cheap course, well if you have a residents card you can get good rates at torrey and balboa. any other cheap course will be twilight rates at some of the bigger ones.

if you want beginner courses try out mission bay, tecolote, sail ho, any of those would be good. you shoudl visit www.golfsd.com and that will give you all the courses in the area.

I live in the scripps ranch area. Texas i just started to so I want to try a par 3 just to see how I do. I know I'm not going to do good but it should be fun to see what I need to work on.

hey everybody from san diego. i have a blog that focuses on the learning experiences of a new golfer and other things... the topics range from practicing, lessons, pga stuff...etc etc... since its a blog for new golfers living in san diego, i was curious if anybody would be interested in being a guest author providing some posts or sharing insights. i would like to have the author living in san diego to go with the theme of my blog... my blog is called the theSDgolfer. check it out at www.thesdgolfer.com . if your interested in contributing to my blog let me know. thanks :)

I was stationed in San Deigo for 4 years and didnt pick up golf till i was out of the service and back in texas, Wish i wouldve played in SD while i was there now ive gotta take a trip out there to play. I just found out torrey pines is a public course probably expensive but would b fun nevertheless

I am thinking about moving out to the San Diego area from Colorado, and I too am interested in some prices for the San Diego area courses. I have searched the internet & found some good resources, but I was curious to get some information from the people that live in the area.

I don't know what area we would be moving to, but in the information I've found it seems like the courses out there are pretty expensive.

Is it nice living in the San Diego area? Is it busy & dirty?

jaragon, golf course prices are skyrocketing down here. but at least they are mostly nice and there are tons to choose from! i can pretty much only afford twighlight rates now! you get a massive discounts at torrey though if you have a residents card. i play their for around 40 bucks!

san diego is a very nice place to live. some parts are busy and dirty, but for the most part you certainly wont be dissapointed.

Ya x-forged, I unfortunately am seeing that the prices of golf down in San Diego (SD) are more expensive than what I'm paying here in Colorado. I have seen some San Diego golf membership cards that you pay $50/year for and you get another $10-$20 off for rounds of golf in the SD area ... so that might be an option too.

I grew up in Pacific Beach. I used to go to the Mission Beach course when I was about 14 (almost 10 years ago) - that's how I got into golf. A friend of mine started going to the range and playing a little bit and I went along with him. I played 9 holes 3-4 times there, and went to the range with him a dozen times, and I never touched a club again until about a month ago.

I remember MB being a budget course for sure, but just fine for a new player.
