Newbie here, in a number of ways.

I just bought a house in Hunterdon County, NJ, and my town happens to have a golf course...

So now I'd like to play :D I've hit a few balls, about ten plus years ago as a teenager, but nothing really serious. I'd actually like to get on a course (the one in town) and play fairly regularly. Since my dad has clubs he doesn't use, I've borrowed those for now, just picked up a cheap pair of golf shoes and some balls, and after some practice, I'm hoping to be not-too-horrible when I actually set foot on the course.

Hello, new member here from Denver. Well, not FROM Denver, but here now. Like most people here, I think.

I've been golfing for about 6 years now, last year was kind of a breakout year, my handicap went from 35 to 20. I'm hoping to get to 15 this year, I think that's a realistic goal.

My wife plays too, so I consider myself lucky. We can go out and play together most weekends.

      I got two trips lined up this year.  First, Pinehurst next month. Qual Ridge, Mid Pins, Southern Pines 😁, Mid South, Talamore. I am looking forward to playing Southern Pines since it got redone.  Second, a trip to eastern Wisconsin in early August. Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills.

      You are probably doing the right thing in having more fairway woods or hybrids in your bag than irons. Just easier to maximize ball speed for you swing speed to get the proper gaps.  A driver is teed up, so you have more leeway there. The 7-wood is probably more optimized for carry for you. A slower swing speed needs higher launch and spin to keep the ball in the air. With the 3-wood, it probably launches too low with not enough spin to keep it in the air.  If you are not going to go get lessons, or do some sort of swing speed training, go get fitted for clubs. Clearly your mix-match of equipment is not optimized.

      32 putts are average for a single digit handicap golfer. Limiting three putting is the biggest task. Speed control is the most important aspect of putting. Probably the 2nd most important is aim.  The putter is going to rotate open a bit on the backstroke. It might stay square to the arc of the putting stroke, but that does mean the face opens up a bit on the backstroke when measured against where the face is oriented at address. Go get a putter lesson as well.

      Keep us up to date with your findings, please.  I'm not looking for a putter, but I'm sure you're not alone in your venture to get the putts rolling better.
