The Pens are getting some timely goaltending but Ottawa isn't exactly the offensive juggernaut these days.

I laughed out loud when the Red Wings screwed the pooch in 9 seconds flat....

I did too. I was happy to see Nashville hang in there, for at least two more games.

Didn't Ottawa lead the league in scoring this year? Oh yeah, they did... C'mon. Give credit where credit is due.

Actually they didn't, Montreal did... and they definately fell off at the end of the year. I don't think he was taking anything away from your Pens goaltending... he was just stating a fact regarding Ottawa's offensive prowess as of late.

In response to the Wings comments... that was rough... but damn that was a nice shot by Arnott (sp?).

Looked like Arnott hurt his ankle jumping in excitement over that goal. :)

I thought I gave credit when I said the Pens were getting some timely goaltending...? Yeah, I forgot that regular season success always translates into playoff success....

Ottawa's potent offense has been nothing of the sort.

Looks to me Ottawa, indeed, led the league in scoring ("goals for"). .

Sure, but doesn't team defense and

goaltending have a lot to do with that? I think the Pens have the best two goaltenders in the league. They've regularly outplayed some of the superstars. The Penguins were ranked tenth in goals against, which says a lot as well.

well that's in 5 on 5... total "goals for" it is Montreal... which is a better indicator since it is total scoring, not just 5 on 5. (seriously though it is one goal... and my point was only that they haven't been producing offensively the last month, playoffs included). http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/standi...Type=standings

Its all about the flames, San Jose scores 3 goals in under 5 mins and Calgary comes back to win with 2 goals on the powerplay I beleive.

Calgary is running into Penalty trouble though.

I don't know why the ESPN stats are different. The page I linked to (you know, at nhl.com) clearly shows Ottawa had more total goals - 258 to 257 - than Montreal in addition to more 5-on-5 goals.

The #1 team in scoring took a downturn the past month - that's fine. You don't go from having a big scoring lead to mud overnight. They're still a highly offensive team, and they've still only scored 4 goals in three games. Fleury's save percentage is still 0.956... And speaking of offensive, why the hell do they did they have a gay Spartan on the ice before a Senators game?

Everytime I see that thing I think of the Michigan State Spartans...

That is wierd that the two sites are conflicting... but, whatever I tend to agree that Fleury is a good young goalie despite some letdowns during his junior career. Hell, I'm just praying the Wings old man goaltender doesn't hurt his damn groin again... we have rode Osgood to the finals before, but it wouldn't be easy.

Please don't start this again. The NHL stats say the opposite.

I'd say it'd be hard to give the MVP to Crosby since he missed a pretty long stretch (only played 53 games this year). I don't even think he could get team MVP this year (would have to go to Malkin - 106 pts and +16 in 82 games). The kid is amazing though.

Ovechkin will likely get MVP.

Malkin was already voted team MVP, and deservedly so.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
