The normal Callaway Big Bertha irons.

By normal I am referring to just the regular, stock line of red cavity Callaway Big Berthas. Anyone have any feelings on these?

I have VFT irons but am looking for one more set, maybe something I can keep in other cities where I live, including New Delhi where I don't want to keep a super nice set of clubs. Then again I played my best golf ever with graphite shafted X-12s.

Anyone have any thoughts on these irons???

As a low-handicapper you may find the Big Berthas are too much of a game improvement iron.

They have a real wide sole and huge cavity back and look a lot different than more performance-irons. I used to play Titleists and downshifted to the 2006 Big Berthas because I couldn't make the shots I needed to--in your case you may find the opposite to be true.

i agree, these clubs do have a very wide sole and they are super game improvement clubs. i would suggest the x-20's over the big berthas for you. if you have a golfsmith around you, go check out their used sets. they have tons of them at great prices, and you'll find some good back-up irons.

I have the Big Bertha 04, 06 and 08 irons. I use them because I am old and
need all the help I can get.

If you are a low handicapper I would suggest the x-20's or the fusion irons (which I have also).

The x-20's and fusions are still easy to hit, but are not as forgiving as the Big Bertha's.
If you want to work the ball right or left do not get the Big Bertha's. They are just straight.

This is just my experience and opinion, your out come may vary.

You have a Handicap Index of 3.7 playing the VFT's? Nice!

The NEW Bertha irons are very easy to hit but way more game improvement than you need, X-20's would be more what you are looking for. Kevin

I would suggest Ping eye 2. can be had at for $200 and are used by duffers and tour pros alike.
