I am in the hunt for a new putter and I can't seem to decide which I like more. Right now my eye is set on the Cleveland VP line mainly due to the awesome alignment aid. I tried it out in the store and I found that I liked the look of the black model with insert, however I preferred the feel of the milled version.

So, which one of these factors is more important? Also, are milled putters really that much more accurate? Do they last longer? I guess I am looking for some pros and cons either way to help me make this decision. Or, conversely, some other putter suggestions.

And finally - do these alignment aids really work? It felt unnatural in the store to hold the putter in such a fashion, but it sank a few putts. Thoughts?

Thanks
Raor~

IMO Feel is more important. Then looks, then brand.

I just bought the VP5 mallet style and used it over the weekend, my putting was much improved and had a tremendous feel. I really think the alignment feature is a tremendous help.

I want to pound the MEATHEAD & The METROSEXUAL from the Slazenger RAW commercial..

    • It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
