Like most people (I think) I have a natural right to left ball flight. Some shots I feel are normal, slightly going left to right in the air. Those shots "feel" good. Other times I feel I'm doing the same swing, but the ball hooks, as if I'm coming directly over the ball. The ball goes 20-30 yards to the left.

I try to tweak my grip, I understand that the "V" of your hand is supposed to line up with your arm, this is true? Sometimes I get off balance, but I have been working on this and for the most part stay on balance now. Also, sometimes my left foot slides on the ground, as my body moves forward, is this normal?

My drives are a mess lately. Doing the same thing as some of my irons. It feels as if I'm coming over the top, but it could also be my grip. Typically there are two ball trajectories. One would be it starts out straight, then breaks left with a lot of spin. The other would be it goes straight but to the left about 10 yards. Any recommendations on how to fix this?

I'm asking if you guys know any drills to work on fixing this bad habits. I really don't know what to do. Sometimes I hit perfect shots. But its hard for me to duplicate that swing. Thanks for the help

I love to hate this damn game.

I was struggling with getting a consistent ball flight, when i happened to luck into playing with a teaching pro. He recommended I fix my grip, and told me to get this book. Best 10 dollars I have spent in golf, and given your questions about grip and erratic ball flight, this should help you too.:

The V's formed by your thumb and forefinger (or the line between them) is recommended to point between your right eye and right shoulder. Here is Ernie Els grip as an example of a standard grip:

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/5148/elsgrippp6.jpg It sounds like your shots are hooking and pulling, and based on the description of your lower body action it sounds like you are making a lateral movement/slide with your legs. When your legs slide your arms get blocked and they will rotate near impact shutting the clubface so the ball curves left. Work on rotating your hips around you on the downswing instead of firing the legs, and that should help you correct the hook problem. If your lower body drive is causing you to raise off your back foot before impact then your swing path will shift to the left, and that is where you will hit the ball. Once again using your legs to support the coiling of the upper body instead of driving them will help correct the problem. Think about keeping the back foot low to the ground nearing impact to keep your body from shifting its alignment to the left during the downswing. (look at Trevor Immelman the 2008 Masters champion's back foot at impact in the picture below) http://www.golftoday.co.uk/proshop/f...reaction_7.jpg

Great advice, thanks! I'll definitely be using these tips today
