Is 2008 a year where Tiger will continue his fairly unbeatable form, or will this be the year when he starts to fade, or could this be the year when he become completely unbeatable.... Only time will tell.

I recon he may start to fade, maybe a few other players will start to close down the gap.

1 major down and 2nd place for Tiger, can he win the rest?! or even 1 more this year...........

well, he's not unbeatable- see the Masters.
I don't think he'll win a major this year. But by most ordinary peoples standards, his year has been very good with 5 victories.

he will definately win a major(s) this year and i am thinking it will be the us open because Torrey Pines is a good course for him I also think he has a shot at the pga this year. You guys might have something there though because of his knee surgery.

Id be interested to know if Tiger still has the same mentality he had before he got married. He has a son now, and perhaps he has the 'Duval Syndrome' coming on- theres more to life than that little white ball?..hes got enough money in the bank now to retire tomorrow. I expect he earns $30million a year in interest from his accumulated investments.

Tiger has a daughter.

Tiger makes over $100,000,000 a year. And no, he has nothing close to "David Duval syndrome". With fans like you, no wonder Duval can't win... or make a cut... or shoot under par. SubPar

i was just questioning whether his priorities are subtley changing thats all. Tiger made 130 million last year excluding interest and private investments, to be precise about the matter.

David Duval Syndrome? Tiger? Give me a break. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and probably get reamed, but David Duval gets too much mention on these boards.

He will ease off after he breaks Jack's record (if he does, that is). I hope he does, not a Jack fan.

The knee will not help his cause this year, PLUS...REMEMBER...these other guys don't suck!!!

I guess no one saw the 20 minute interview Tiger did on ESPN with Scott Van Pelt.

Scott asked him: "You've made millions, you've accomplished so much, what keeps you going? Why don't you hit the snooze button and take your foot off the accelerator?"

His response: "Why would you? I see everyday as a chance to better myself, why would I waste that opportunity?"

Tiger has a work ethic unlike just about anyone on this earth. He said when Sam wakes up in the middle of the night, he'll take her out of her crib, go into the gym, and 600 leg presses later she's fast asleep and he puts her back to bed.

He is not going to stop before he breaks every record. He's not going to stop after he breaks every record. He will stop when he has made every record so untouchable that they will never be toppled. He will stop when he's conquered the game. Period. And I have no doubts about him doing it, either.

This is a harder question with Tigers knee now.

Of course he was going to win the US Open. I think he has won at Torrey Pines 5 of the last 6 years. Now, it's not so solid. I remember he missed the cut in a recent US Open cause of a long layoff due to his fathers passing. While this may not be as long nor as emotional, it will be a layoff.

I will say this though, if he wins at Torrey Pines, he'll be unstoppable the rest of the year.

At the risk of mentioning Duval one more time, his mental decline is far more serious than the erosion of his physical skill. Mental toughness may well be the most developed of all the special skills Tiger has.

    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
