Most likely your equipment was wrong for your swing.  As you aged it must have become worse.  You probably needed a different shaft and possibly higher loft.  Just see if replacing the existing driver shaft will be a simpler option

In average we loose a yard each year after.. 30/40. Maybe it get worse around 80/90.
So if you are really seen a loose in distance after a few months is not because of age, it's probably cooler air, less roll because of wet fairways or a swing change that make you swing slower or with worst launch conditions.

Is always good to check it with trackman and a pro who knows the numbers well. As a scratch player you would think I don't have much room to improve, but last November I was hitting it in average 260(240 carry), always been a short hitter. Hit the trackman with a Pro, change driver, change my club delivery, change my launching conditions and now I'm averaging 280, despite been a year older (39) and going at it with the exact same effort I did las year.

    • Day 1 (21 Jan 25) - Managed some swings in the backyard with 6&7 irons before the snow was to come in.  Usual drills - pre-shot setup, stance, ball positioning… (Starting over - yesterday’s post did not load, and I have had another missed post in the last month…)
    • Okay, @billchao, @StuM, @dennyjones, @boogielicious, @Carl3, @DaveP043, @bkuehn1952, You are tagged, because I'm certain I've played with you all before.  @saevel25 and @Chris Brooks Have already told me that they are interested but can't do it this year.  @Slice of Life, @Bonvivant, @RFKFREAK and @Divot Master I'm sure I've played with you all as well. So, tag.    I know I'm missing a bunch of you who've I've met. So, again, feel free to message me.
    • Put myself on GEARS today to check my backswing stuff. Left wrist cupped, right arm not bending too much. That kind of thing. I can take about 5% off, and I squared up my right foot again…

Had a good time today confirming that the work I'd been putting in on my backswing thing was good, and I... Got on GEARS myself today to check the backswing stuff. I saw a few little things I can look at (less turn, a bit less sway, a bit shorter overall), but I was pleased with the wrist stuff.
