Seems like the ultimate GPS device. Full color imagery with flybys and a bunch of bells and whistles..price seems to contend with all the other GPS devices out there too. I think I'll have to wait ebfore the next generation comes out though right..?

$10.00 per course if you want all the bells and whistles... $2.00 for real basic functions.

Funk that shizzle... I'll stick with my iGolf... 100 courses for $35.00 and a much cheaper unit. It does look cool, but waaaayyy to expensive... at least it will push the market and products to keep getting better and eventually all this stuff will come down in price.

Their prices aren't actually that far out of whack.

Pricing for "BasicMode" courses (comparable to most GPS units on the market today) start at 3/$10 and decrease in price as you buy more. The ProMode (which adds features not found in other units) start at $10 each, but drop significantly if you purchase in chunks.

For the sake of shameless self promotion, I have full pricing details here .

I also have 'exclusive' pics here .

I don't work for uPro or anything, but I've been fortunate to make some contacts on the inside.

I saw it in the new Golf Digest or whatever mag that is on the coffee table. I didn't check into the price, but figured subcription prices would probably be higher than some of the other choices, merely for the fact that it actually shows aerial photos--correct?

I just got my Golflogix, $29.95 unlimited golf courses for a year. I'll probably end up loading 10. . .maybe. Is it worth it? I like Garmin, trustworthy.

Do these GPS units (all of them)show the from tee to green? Like give you distance to water hazards and sand traps?

Sorry, I've been away for 6 months and I haven't got info these GPS units.

Thanks

I am seriously interested in this device.
I looked up some of my local courses and about 70% of them are already done.

Does anyone out there have one of these?

The device holds 50 courses, but if you end up purchasing more than that, can you store them on your computer?

Once you buy a course you own it. If you need to delete it from the device for any reason, you'll be able to download it again at a later date free of charge.

That's good, thanks for the info. I suppose then if you upgrade to a new device in a couple years you can just re-download all your courses.

For me, the uPro looks cool because I love gadgets. And it helps that it has some really cool features. I looked at one in a local shop and its much smaller than I thought. About the size of a candy-bar style cell phone. Smaller than my Treo. I really like the "next shot" feature, can't remember what its called. But it gives you a distance to a point, and the remaining distance to the green at the same time. So if I want to lay up to 100 yards, I know which club to hit without doing math. I hate math. Of course, its not that hard to subtract 100, but it gets tricky if its around a dogleg or hazard.

You may want to consider this before you buy a upro gps. The basic mapped courses are not as good as other gps's like the sky caddie sg4. I own one of each. None of the courses that I play at are mapped in pro mode....... I have requested 5 different courses to be mapped in Pro mode, and this is the B.S. I get each time I request a course to be mapped.
Hello James,

We have completed our review of our imagery database for your requested course(s):

The Oaks At Kincheloe

We currently have this course mapped in Basic Mode and available for download on our website. However, at this time we do not have imagery available that meets our high standards to map the course in ProMode. We have made a request to our imagery vendors to obtain imagery. The time frame to obtain imagery varies, it may be a few days or it may take a few months. Once we have obtained imagery, we will map the course as quickly as we can.

The pricing must have changed since some of these were posted. The ProMode (aerial images) is $10 per course only if you buy them one at a time. They offer packages with greater discounts the more you buy. Basic mode is free, numbers only to hazards and green (front, middle, and back) distances. The distances seem to be accurate.

I'm currently waiting for a course to be available. No idea when it'll be completed.

A couple of comments...
1. I have a "Pro Mode" for White Horse in Kingston, WA--this is one they should have waited on for a higher resolution. Very hard to distinguish features because of the fuzziness of the images. You may be better off than you think.
2. The new software level 14.40.40.40.40 (in basic mode) shows a greenside view -- just click on "hazard" twice. The front, middle, and back distances to green are spotted and aligned from your position across the center of the green (vs. stored values of the center front, center, and center back positions). This is nice as it shows what's required to clear that trap on the right front, for example. So even without "Pro Mode" you can get good visuals of the green area.
3. All basic course downloads are no additional cost, unlike Sky Caddie which has an (irritating) ongoing fee.
