The text, in case Elon ever kills Twitter (more than he already has):

Quick 18-hole game you can play on a launch monitor:

Write 90, 95, 100, 105… 175 on 18 balls. Put them in a bag, pick one out, try to carry the ball the listed distance.

Scoring:
- ≤ 1 yd, Eagle
- 1.1 - 3 yds, Birdie
- 3.1 - 6 yds, Par
- 6.1 - 9 yds, Bogey
- > 9 yards, Double

Of course, you don't have to do it with 18 balls; you can use slips of paper, etc.

You could also set a start and end point and randomly generate 18 numbers, and play to those yardages.

But… let's see some scores? Let's see what people get.

The nice thing is… you only need a Mevo level device.

Okay, I gave this a try today.

Just for clarity sake I used a "Spin-the-wheel" picker ap on my phone to choose which order to do the distances. Then I used my Voice Caddie SC4, which I think is pretty good. Lastly, I used carry distance not total distance. I finished 9 over par.

The very first number generated by the ap was 125. Which I hit to 123 and made a birdie. I was like "This is going to be easy." Then I got the 160 which I hit to 171 and went from 1 under to 1 over just like that.

  • 90 yards - par
  • 95 yards - par
  • 100 yards - par
  • 105 yards - bogey
  • 110 yards - par
  • 115 yards - double
  • 120 yards - par
  • 125 yards - birdie
  • 130 yards - par
  • 135 yards - bogey
  • 140 yards - double
  • 145 yards - bogey
  • 150 yards - par
  • 155 yards - birdie
  • 160 yards - double
  • 165 yards - bogey
  • 170 yards - bogey
  • 175 yards - par

Overall a fun little game. If you have an SC4 it will let you enter in a distance as a target and record your distance for you. Then once the picker ap tells you you've done all the distances you simply add up your score off the SC4 ap. Easy-peasy.

BTW - It was hotter than a snake's ass in a wagon rut out there today.

I tried this again today. Again, I used the random picker app on my phone and I set the targets into my SC4. I used carry distance not total distance.

I did everything the same except today I decided to print out my actual shot distances for you.

Target Club Actual Difference Score Score vs Par
90 GW 101.4 11.4 Double 2
95 GW 93.9 -1.1 Birdie -1
100 GW 102.4 2.4 Birdie -1
105 GW 100.6 -4.4 Par 0
110 GW 108.2 -1.8 Birdie -1
115 PW 128.3 13.3 Double 2
120 PW 117.8 -2.2 Birdie -1
125 PW 125 0 Eagle -2
130 PW 130.9 0.9 Eagle -2
135 9I 126.7 -8.3 Bogey 1
140 9I 139.2 -0.8 Eagle -2
145 8I 125 -20 Double 2
150 8I 138 -12 Double 2
155 7I 156.7 1.7 Birdie -1
160 7I 172.1 12.1 Double 2
165 6I 168.3 3.3 Par 0
170 6I 177.6 7.6 Bogey 1
175 6I 169.7 -5.3 Par 0
Average miss     -0.18 yards
Av of Absolute     6.03 yards

Total is one over par.   1

I did much better today in terms of hitting some close enough to make some eagles. The eagles really help your score.

The average miss is just the difference between target and actual carry distance, which I guess could be used to see if I'm more likely longer or shorter. Looks like I'm about equally off long and short. The average of the absolute valve of my misses kind of tells me how close to the target I usually am.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Correct. That's why the original tweet says "try to carry the ball the listed distance". 🙂

I also love gambling and enjoy myself here which has a collection of casinos with fast payouts.

The few big left/right misses stand out, but the consistency across most yardages is impressive. Looks like a great calibration game, and you’re clearly dialed in.

    • Day 232 4-8 Rotation work tonight. Used just a mirror for the most part. Recorded a few swings just to see where I am.
    • Day 31 (8 Apr 26) - Worked with a coupe of kids on the school golf team on the range - then joined them for a few holes of practice play.
    • I’m sure you know his practice schedule 🤣 also, he had a wrist injury recently.
    • I’m going to go out on a limb and say that maybe if Jason spent less time on his clothes and more on golf he would win more.
    • So, my league starts next week, and I have a golf trip in two weeks. I am thinking no matter what I do, I will have to do my left leg and downswing turning piece. At least this turning piece helps me negate shanking the shot.  I probably shanked the foam ball about 10x in a row yesterday. Given, I was doing downswing work with not much caring about the body rotation. I was struggling to feel the same thing from two days ago. Where I was able to feel the arm piece and the turning piece working together. Yesterday, my body turn was just destroying my arms down piece.  That said, it’s not like I have a great feel for where the club is in space. Especially with how fast the downswing is. If I do the arms downswing piece with the turn piece better. I just feel those two things. Then after I am going into the finish I am like, "Oh, that was center of the clubface". I am glad the clubface found the ball. Maybe that is normal when you are trying to fix your mechanics. You are so hyper focused on the hitting the swing feel that the feel for the club is just gone.  I’ve watched YouTube videos where they talk about how correct lower-body mechanics give you the feeling of having tons of time in the downswing. I’m like, BS! there is no time. If anything, it feels faster now. 🤣 I do notice that the clubface stays more open past impact, less flippy. Not like I am trying to do that. Actually, with the downswing arm piece, I am trying to feel like I am rolling my wrist (closing the club a bit more).
