As far as the 'cheater' comments, I wouldn't sweat it. If you are playing in a league, then you should play by the league rules.

Nobody said he shouldn't. Just that he shouldn't post those rounds for handicap purposes.

I want to figure out my own handicap but I only play 9 holes usually. Also I play the ball up so it will be a cheater handicap anyways.

You can calculate it any way you like. I notice that you've given yourself a handicap of 14. You will probably find that this is with 26 of what your handicap would actually be if you were to submit a series of cards that counted every stroke over 18 holes. I am wondering why you want to asign an arbitrary figure to you golf, given that you just go out and bash a few balls every now and again. Just enjoy your golf and when you join a club, get a proper handicap and go from there. Reading between the lines on these boards, I think that there are a lot of players who have given themself a handicap, but their posts would tend to indicate a lack of knowledge about the game. A handicap is only meaningful in competition rounds where every stroke is counted. Anything else is PRACTICE. (Which is very worthwhile, but you don't tell people what you shot because you didn't shoot anything if you gave yourself putts and improved lies etc.)

If someone says "I play off 6 and have a slice. What causes it?" I don't believe they could play to 36. Simple as that. You are setting yourself up for ridicule if you say you play off x and then play with someone who plays the game properly. FYI a 14 marker is someone who would typically have 9 or 10 pars in a round and stuff up their score with a couple of double bogeys and one triple bogey. When they play well they break 85 comfortably with no drama.

SparkyRedick returns.

"mr.mizunoman" has since been banned. He called several people names in PMs and other places. When comparing both the contents of his bag AND his IP addresses, it was discovered that they matched a previous banned user - SparkyRedick. As such, "mr.mizunoman" has been banned, and the IP addresses this one user has used have been added to the ban list.
